About
Storyhouse is Chester's brand new theatre, cinema, library, restaurant and bar. A renovation of an Art Deco 1930s Odeon, the building houses two theatres, with a home-produced summer season and an autumn touring season encompassing comedy, drama, music and dance. Latest releases and independent film can be found in the cinema, whilst an upstairs bar has panoramic views of Chester.

To day i went the storyhoue chester to see the handbags of harmony choir. they are a local choir from chester. They were to perfrom for the international womens day festival at the storyhouse.
They perfrom song from Eurovision to ABBA. And the classics of the 1960's 1970's and 1980's. The hanbags of harmony created a great atmosphere in the storyhouse cafe /library. they drew a big crowd brought the usual handbags glitz and glamour to the storyhouse and so much more. A great places to see some live music from a loacl choir and great afternoon of live music.

I dont normally leave a review but I was with my mum and sister tonight at the story house theatre
watching Giovanni from strictly the show was spectacular.
We decided to have tea beforehand, to be fair the food is not up to much and very overpriced.
Then once we were in watching the show my mum (who’s 83) found the music (big base) too much for her so she decided to sit the second half out in the library area.
The reason for me writing is is because there was a lovely man called Elliott who looked after my mum made she was safe and comfortable and reassured her at all times. He also popped his head into me and my sister to say ‘ your mum is ok I’m taking care of her, you enjoy the show’ which we found amazing. I can’t thank him enough and made my mum feel much happier. We need more caring Elliot’s around. Thank you once again. Xx

First time to the Storyhouse. Went to see Giovanni Made In Italy. Absolutely amazing. The theatre is laid out perfect. We were in the back rows at the top and could see perfectly. This show is fantastic, beautiful evenings entertainment. Loved it.

Gorgeous setting for a cinema. Enjoyed seeing the film name up in lights on the building before going in. Lovely bar downstairs. Friendly staff and a lovely cinema experience. Comfortable seating and had a lovely time. Amazingly normal prices for drinks and sweets instead of the vastly inflated prices for huge drinks and massive tubs of popcorn at multiplex cinemas. Was great to be able to walk to the cinema safely from our hotel.

Customer service was awful in the cafe! Table server was incredibly rude, he slammed the table number onto the table and did not say a single word to us and left before we finished speaking to him. Even though it was very quite, when ordering food he was very dismissive and acted as if my very presence was ruining his entire life. Overall, was not impressed and management need to sort out the customer service.

I booked our tickets online and found the process to be very straightforward. When we arrived there was nowhere left to sit before they opened the auditorium - so we took a walk up to the library to have a look at those facilities. A point of note that there are more toilet facilities there than next to the theatre. We were there to see a matinee of The Snow Queen. If you are wanting a traditional pantomime you will be out of luck as the Storyhouse's Christmas production is always something a little different. It was certainly an imaginative retelling of the story! The cast were enthusiastic with good acting and singing which kept you engaged. The seating is comfortable and you can see from wherevever you are sat. The staff are friendly and helpful. I was surprised that there was no programme on sale on this occasion. A lovely afternoon.

In February 2020, I tried to use one ticket from a competition prize. I emailed my contact who duly booked the film for me. However, the film was cancelled because of Covid restrictions.
When cinemas finally re-opened I sent several emails asking for tickets to be booked but didn't receive any response. I also rang only to be misled as my contact had left the company although I was told he was still employed by them.
Eventually, I got a reply on Twitter so used the email address supplied. I emailed in August 2022 asking about my competition tickets and received a reply in September 2022 advising that my contact had left the company in 2020 and there was no record of my win. I supplied confirmation of the win and that I'd been told they would still be valid. Eventually, I was told they would be valid until the end of 2022. With various train strikes and the films I wanted to see finishing too late for me to catch the last train back to Liverpool, the tickets were wasted.
I'll stick to the multiplexes where they know how to treat customers and make them feel valued.

Really really poor customer service. Ignorant staff with very poor attitude towards the people visiting this venue. Management need to wake up to the type of staff they are employing before it's too late

I the views better than most Theatres. It’s a modern fit so I think this has been taken into consideration.

Looking at booking theatre tickets and front row is still available. Is this too close?? Only other seats are pretty much the back row upper circle! Not sure what to do!! TIA 😊

Hi, we were in H row, which was just perfect.2 ladies did move from the front row, during the interval,as they said, it was too close & they craned their neck to see properly, luckily for them, there was some empty seats in F row.

Anyone have any opinions on legroom at the theatre here please? Old theatre/picture house so wondering if it's tiny. Thanks

The theatre is new, built as part of the update a few years ago. I’ve been a couple times, and I am reasonably sure that it is to modern standards, and with a reasonable legroom. I don’t have long legs though so legroom is seldom an issue for me. I’ve not been to the cinema, so cannot report on there.
