An outstanding garden and one we've meant to visit for years. So pleased we finally got there. There is a lot of transitional work going on at the moment after the death of Lavinia last year, the new plans should make it even more stunning. Take the walking shoes as it is bigger than you think

Family members came up to stay with us for a few days and decided to take the to Cholmondley Castle and gardens, it's a big estate with well manicured gardens, the animal farm is a little sparse and could do with a little more signage for the children, the gardens are the real treat for us, wonderful ponds and little... Been going to Cholmondeley castle on and off for 25 years. Not been for a couple of years till today and really surprised in its demise.1.All the koi carp have gone out of the main lake.2.The shop has closed down.3The aviary has been pulled down and there is no small animals for the youngsters to see any more.4.At the farm there... Visited the gardens for the first time last Thursday 23rd June. The grounds are extensive with individually themed gardens. There are walkways between the various gardens with magnificent views of the castle, lakes and surrounding countryside. When you have taken in all there is to see, stop off at the tea rooms for a well deserved drink and/or something to... More

Enjoyed our visit despite the rain! Very polite welcome at entrance. Clean tidy walkways throughout gardens up to castle. Great views. Picturesque gardens with interesting features and well designed. Very well kept. Good to see cattle and calves in fields approaching parking area, but no info as to breeds. Interesting visit.

Last minute decision to visit Cholmondeley castle due to the weather being miserable and cold, however it appeared to be raining everywhere but not at Cholmondeley! Although the entrance fee £7.00 is per adult on a quite day it's so worth it. The grounds are impeccable order and the variety of plants are amazing. We went to the Chapel (bit... More

First we had to queue for nearly half an hour - why the people taking the money at the entrance had to take money then walk into their hut to get change and entrance ticket seemed silly, they needed a money bag on them. Then we went for a coffee another long queue again half an hour but seemd longer.... More

This is the third visit I have made to this beautiful place, each Autumn I have witnessed the spectacular colour changes in the foliage. The sweeping grassy areas, immaculate gardens and the majestic castle make this a special place. There is an aviary, some alpaca, llamas, pigs, goats, and horses. This year it was full of carved pumpkins with seasonal... More

Four of us spent almost four hours walking around these beautiful gardens, great value at £6 each. Stunning Japanese garden, animal farm, duckery, although no ducks could be found! We were able to walk up and onto the castle terrace and the views are breathtaking. The chapel is beautifully maintained and well worth a visit to read the family history.... More

First visit here and enjoyed it very much. Although had sat nav found the entrance a bit difficult to locate due to lack of signage. Lovely natural garden with plenty to see. Walking around the grounds and the woods was very relaxing. Colours on trees just beginning to change and will visit again for the full effect. Nice plant nursery,... More
