A generally well set out and extremely interesting house. Loads of new information about Cromwell and life at the time. Some display boards are tucked into awkward areas and the choice of some of the print colour on posters makes them hard to read. The audio guide is excellent.

Really enjoyed our visit to the Oliver Cromwell house. It was very interesting and informative. Well laid out and lots of displays to look at. Also a lot of interactive things for children with some costumes available for dressing up. Would definitely recommend to anyone in the area. It took us about an hour to walk round. Learnt so much from this small but very informative museum. Had always thought of Oliver Cromwell in a slightly negative light but didn't really know much about him and the exhibition definitely makes you think about his motives and actions, giving both sides of opinion and encouraging the visitor to decide for themselves. Lots of things for children too if you were going as a family.

Interesting place, small but well preserved. Good write ups on the walls and a handset that gives additional information. Some activities for kids also. Takes no more than 1 hour and good value for money.

Fascinating and very well presented museum based in the house where Cromwell lived before the civil war. So many museums these days are so dumbed down as to be boring. This one has a very good balance between an overall story and the ability to dip into particular issues. There are good visuals and the printed information is easily read (not too small). You go round with a very informative audio guide which has options for finding out more aout some topics.

Excellent. The house is in remarkable condition given its age and past use as a pub after Cromwell. A very informative tour contextualises his life and allows the visitor to conclude for themselves whether he was more good or bad.

Visited to try the new Tomb of the Templars escape room with a mixed group of adults and children (ages 9-11). What a fantastic event - staff were helpful, enthusiastic and very much in character. The puzzles were innovative (no spoilers here!) and there were lots of great props. You have an hour to complete the Escape Room and we managed it with a minute to spare! The certificate and group photo were nice souvenirs of a fun morning - highly recommended, and we will definitely be back to try future games.

Oliver Cromwell’s house now houses the town’s tourist information bureau, but you can also pay for a tour of the house, and the entry price includes an audio guide. It doesn’t take long to go round, but the exhibitions etc are well done and paint a good picture of the man. It also poses the question of whether Cromwell was a saint or a sinner. I’ve got mixed views myself!

The tickets are expensive for what is a small museum, but the experience itself is lots of fun. There's a good video at the beginning to welcome you, and the audio guides let you decide whether to skim the surface or go in-depth. It has obviously been designed by people both knowledgeable about and willing to be critical of the influential man, so your brain gets an enjoyable workout during the visit.
