Burgers - Brews - Banter

Thats what we do at The Alex, a backstreet boozer that does great beer, from local breweries. Great burgers, hand made on the premises every day and all we ask is that you bring the banter.

I was a bit unsure about visiting this pub as it is owned by Greene King, however the pub offers a good selection and variety of different beers, not owned by Greene King. And also the part does a very nice Sunday lunch

The first thing that strikes you when you enter the Alexandra Arms is that it is not your typical town pub. The interior is difficult to describe, but it is bit like a hardware shop, in a good way. There are several large table so it would be a good place to come with a group of friends. We had... More

Hi Rick61 Thanks for the review, glad you enjoyed your burger and our quirky interior! We recently conducted a price-check of all the local pubs like us in the area as we want to remain competitive whilst also having to adjust prices for the constantly increasing overheads from brewers and suppliers. We found that, although Blue Moon is our most... More

Great local option this. Great beer range and they know what they are going with cask ales which is a nice touch. Food is great quality...had nearly all the burgers on the list and never disappointed. Always seems to be busy which says a lot! Great job good fellows of the Alex!!! Highly recommend!!

We had lunch here on a Sunday, everyone loved the burgers too and the veggie gravy for the bangers and mash very flavoursome. Thoroughly enjoyed. Nice, friendly service and welcome. Only thing I'd change really was the coffee could have been a bit hotter. Otherwise, will go back here again to eat.

Fairly hidden in one of my favourite spots in Cambridge I ate the best burgers there I had in many years in the UK (twice last week-end). Juicy, perfectly cooked, not dribbling with sauces. The whole accompanied with not-so-greasy chips and a good selection of ales/lagers/ciders. The Sunday roast looked yummy last week-end and was sold out in 90 minutes....... More

Booked at table for 18:30 on a Saturday evening knowing that it would be a busy evening coinciding with the Xmas market. Turned up at the pub to find that our reservation has been written into the book but a reserved sign had been forgotten to be put out. We were simply told that our reservation could not be honored... Hi Micky B Having spoken with the team they take full responsibility and confirm that is was an oversight, your booking was down in the diary but they became so busy dealing with the sudden, large influx of customers that it slipped their mind to reserve a table in time. I believe Jack was very apologetic but could not find... More
