This was a birthday gift with my wife all I can say is that if you like food and drink this is the best tour you will go on.
From start to finish it was perfect and the host Gerla was a mine of information, constantly telling you facts about where you were at every stop and places on the way.
I have lived locally for many years but have never visited any of the places, the route changes each time so you can go again, I certainly intend to!

We have just recently sampled The Cambridge Food Tour having had to re-arrange it from earlier in the year, due to Covid. Gerla, our tour guide, was very friendly and knowledgeable, sharing details of many popular and not so well known eateries in and around Cambridge. The tour started with a delicious Chelsea bun from Fitzbillies and we were taken to various parts of Cambridge including the market place and the hidden gem that is Mill Road. Here we were treated to our personal highlight of the tour, a trip to the fantastic Maurizio Restaurant, with authentic Italian food and drink served up with expert guidance from Maurizio himself. We will certainly be going back!
We ended the tour with a visit to Calverley's Brewery, where we had a sampling of their refreshing original Pale Ales.
The tour has given us a taste of Cambridge's eclectic food scene and has whetted the appetite for a return visit.

Hello Laura I just noticed that the response was rejected by Tripadvisor so I am posting it again. I hope that you are well. Thank you very much for taking the time to leave a review. My apologies I didn't pick this up earlier, but TripAdvisor doesn't send notifications anymore. I am glad you enjoyed the foodie stops on the tour. Maurizio is definitely a hit. I can highly recommend revisiting again. In the meantime have a lovely time over Christmas. Check out the Cambridge Travel Guide. Gerla

From sweet to savoury and drinks included, this was a fun day out. Gerla’s knowledge and friendliness spilled over from the patrons to the tourists. We visited places we never knew existed, despite living near Cambridge for 20 years. Food was provided in patisseries and shops, on the street, in bars and restaurants. More than a food tour, more than a city tour. Add to Gerla’s enthusiasm the commitment and stories behind the concoctions and you have a recipe to delight foodies and non-foodies alike. We’ll certainly be back for more.

Hello Anna My apologies for the slow response to your lovely review. TripAdvisor doesn't send any notifications out anymore these days so I wasn't aware of your review. Thank you for your compliments. I love food and Cambridge and that's the key to my food tours. I am always on the lookout for new places and food. I am working on new tours too so keep an eye out for them. Also, all the new openings will be on my CB Travel guide. Gerla

We had a fantastic food tour experience yesterday. Gerla’s knowledge, passion and sheer enjoyment of food and promoting local small businesses shines through during this tour.
We absolutely loved all of the varieties of locations and food types that we tasted.
I would thoroughly recommend this to people. We had a fantastic family day out! Thank you Gerla!

We booked the gin tour on a wet Saturday with another large group.
The other group were very hospitable as was our charming and very informative hostess Camilla.
We visited some fab places for gins and food.
Food wise we had great slow cooked meat sandwiches at Meat n Bread. Had some good street food at the market after and finally a fab lunch at the recently opened Spanish restaurant Mercado Centrale.
Bars we went to were great too with knowledgeable and engaging staff.
This tour was a gift to us and we will definitely do this again and bring friends too.
Keep up the good work.

We run 6 different tours and about to relaunch one of them, which will focus on a new area of Cambridge. Looking forward to having you back! Gerla

Great tour with Gerla. We went to several great places I would have otherwise walked past. She's passionate and knowledgeable and made the whole day fun. Can't wait to book on again to try some other great places

A fantastic way to spend an afternoon in Cambridge . Gerla's tour is well researched, organised and filled with delightful insights. Gerla exudes passion for food, drink and all things Cambridge. Several of the wonderful places we visited I would have walked past without a glance. It opened my eyes to whats on offer.

We had an amazing half day walking the streets of, mainly, central Cambridge. Tasting Chelsea buns, roast meats, pizzas, falafels, cheeses and black pudding. It was such an eye opener. My shopping trips to Cambridge have changed forever!

Good afternoon, Thank you for posting our first review of the year. I am so glad, that you had a great time and that your shopping trips will be so much better now. There are so many fantastic foodie places in Cambridge, that it might be a good excuse to come just for them. Keep an eye out on our Facebook page as there will be a lot of new businesses open soon. Firstly we enjoyed the tour. It was a gin tour which ended with a gin tasting which was interesting and enjoyable. However there were some low lights. Our first food stop involved standing outside the restaurant on a busy pavement - not much fun. We were then taken to the Cambridge Gin Company but not offered any gin there unless you count that which we could spray into our mouths from 'taster' bottles. This reflected very badly on both organisations.

Good morning David, It was very nice meeting you and Clare last Saturday. I am really glad that you enjoyed the tour, but that you were disappointed about a few things. Thank you very much for taking the time to give us feedback. It is much appreciated. We always take all the comments of our guests onboard. I like to have a good mix of food and alcoholic drinks on our tour as we need food to soak up the alcohol. Hence we start with a small bespoke G&T followed by 2 food stops. Unfortunately, last Saturday was one of the busiest days of the year due to ongoing graduations and large groups of language schools visiting Cambridge. I tried to ferry as much as possible around it, but this wasn't always possible. One of our key selling points is to introduce you to small independents. Bread & Meat is one of them. They only open at 11.30, but their meat is not ready till 11.45 am. That is the time we arrive. It is such a popular place that especially on Saturday's the tiny cafe fills up very quickly, which you might have witnessed yourself. Hence we have to be outside, just like on the market for the street food on this tour and on other tours, there are a few stops like this such as small bakeries. I try to describe the tours as accurate as possible on our website, but Bread & Meat is not street food hence I cannot describe it like this. The meat is so good, that our guests most of the time rate it as the best food on their tour. It would be a pity to miss out on this experience. Before we head over to our main stop for a Gin cocktail and sharing boards we decided to include the Gin Lab to show our guests the origins of the Peas Gin you have had on the first stop, the Pint Shop. I am sorry it wasn't clear there was no Gin offered here, but it does state on our website that we 'visit the origins of the Gin we have just sampled' From our website: The perfect tour for Gin fans! Join us on a 3-hour, scenic, relaxed walking tour through Cambridge to taste a fine local Gin, visit the origins of the Gin you’ve just sampled, enjoy street food on the market, overnight slow-cooked meat and enjoy a sharing board and an Elderflower lemongrass cocktail at one of our favourite bars. The last stop is a bespoke Gin tasting of 3 gins paired with a delicious designer cake created by a Master Patissier. At the last stop at the Gin tasting, we threw an extra (4th) Gin in as an extra treat. It is always lovely to welcome guests back on our tour. We had 4 in total. One of our returning guests had invited 2 friends and it was great to hear, that they will be coming back again.

From the high rating on Tripadvisor, we were expecting to learn more about Cambridge and Food. The guide tended to talk to the person that kept up with her fast walking pace rather than the group. We heard a lot about her history but little about the city or the food outside of receiving small samples. We walked a few miles and were hungry at the end of the tour.

Hello Joseph, Thank you very much for your review. I am very sorry to hear, that you and your daughter Chris didn't enjoy the tour and that you left hungry. I have to say, that this is the first time I have heard this as guests most of the time turn down food. We had a bit of problem when we started as we had to wait for you as your plane was delayed. I had to start the tour around 11.15 as we weren't sure what time you would join us. I did keep the food, which we already had had at the stops as I didn't want you to miss out on it. I am sorry, that you felt that I walked fast, but we needed to catch up the lost time as we were late at the start. We had to be at a certain time at the Free Press Pub as the kitchen closes earlier on Mondays. It was very nice to hear, that your daughter is a keen lover of curries too and I did try to share my love of certain chefs with her. A pity, that you didn't want to go to Al Amin the big spice shop in Mill Road as this would have been a fantastic experience for her. As you missed some of the tour, you did miss some of the food stories too. (Fitzbillies and Christine). it is very difficult to repeat the stories again once the tour has started. I do try, but it is very difficult. I hope you had a lovely time in London and no more disruptions with flights. Kind regards, Gerla
