Even during an unseasonal visit to Cambridge a trip along the Cam is a must; equally as beautiful in the winter sun as the summer but much less crowded!

Compared to many rivers I've seen across the UK the river Cam stands out as one of much greater beauty. Stretching through the heart of the city and utilised for many a good time by punters and general boat use!! A great summers day can be had resting next to this stretch of water.

Ask at your hotel, use your smart phone or just ask locals along the way, and set out for a lovely walk from Cambridge to Grantchester. Reward yourself with tea, coffee or a snack at the Orchard upon arrival.

If in Cambridge its certainly worth spending some time walking along the Cam. Whether it be in town, looking at the colleges or out towards the commons, its a very pleasant walk with some great sights. It can be as long or as short a walk as you want to make it. And seeing the frequent rowers or "friendly" swans,... More

We went for a long walk along the river on a foggy day in December, up to the lock and back into Cambridge, stopping at the Green Dragon for lunch. I find it funny to be reviewing a river! But I did enjoy this walk--the river was quiet and there were occasionally rowers working out, despite the narrowness of the... More

The best way to see all the university. About 40 minuts and perfect for a sunny or warm day. You can get discount for students.

It is a must to do while being in Cambridge and it also very relaxing and instructive. The punters will explain the story behind each university visible from the Cam. it is also the best way to have a better sight of each uni if you don't want to pay to visit them. Cambridge is one day visit, it is... More

The Cam offers some stunning walks, either along the college backs or from inside the college gardens, and of course, it is extremely beautiful seen from a punt on a sunny day, even cold (you get a blanket!). Even when you live in Cambridge, you never tire of walking by the river and across, on one of the many bridges.

As we went December 2016 a lot of places were closed. The punts were still operational but very pricey. It would have been nice if there was a punt for just 2 people.
