We found Cambridge Chauffeur Punts near the Anchor Pub, there are lots of young guys and girls asking if you're interested in a punt down the river. The ones in the navy blue were more pricey and seemed to be offering exactly the same tour at £70 (but were having a £20 off day that day, hmmm). Prices do seem to vary with a lot of the punting companies, depending on the time of day you go and whether you have a private boat or a shared boat. I personally felt the shared boat was better as there's more people asking questions and the boat is wider, so you feel less like you'll fall in the river. We eventually found Cambridge Chauffeur Punts and were much more competitive on price (£20 per adult) for approximately a 45 minute punt up and down a mile of the river – I think you see about 9 colleges and other buildings along the way, that can only be seen properly from the river. I think the guide makes a huge difference to the experience, and we were lucky enough to have such a good one – if I'd had cash on me I genuinely would have left him a tip. I thought his presentation was much better than a lot of the other guides working for other companies, he seemed to know his history well, was very chatty and friendly, had a few anecdotes along the way and even made sure my girlfriend that is 7 months pregnant had extra cushions before we set off to make her more comfortable for the journey - big thank you to Lewis our guide!

My family and I took a chauffered punt on Sunday when the weather made the job of our punter, Alex, extremely hard work. Nothwithstanding the wind we had a great time and Alex kept up a charming, witty and very informative narrative throughout the trip. Lovely views along the river. Very good value for money and easy to book.

This company was recommended by a local - his advice proved to be spot on. The manager, Patrick, was very welcoming and arranged for my wife and I to join a tour in the early afternoon.

We were lucky enough to be punted down the river by Joe who was an excellent guide giving us a very informative commentary as we went past many beautiful colleges.

Ticket price was very reasonable and there was plenty of room in the punt to social distance.

If you are looking to go punting in Cambridge please check this company out. They provide both chauffeured and own use punts and are very reasonable compared to a number of other local companies. You can book in advance on their website or just turn up and go.

They are sited opposite The Anchor pub near the mathematical bridge

There were several companies offering same trip but this company was the cheapest. The young lady who sold the trip was not pushy and very informative as well as very smart in her uniform. We were lucky to have a large boat to ourselves. Max our guide really knows his stuff and was informative and funny. The sun was shining and the trip was perfect. The punt was clean. Excellent value. Highly recommend.

Visiting Cambridge on Sunday 11th September 2022 Post lunch at the nearby Anchor Pub we hit the River Cam and some punting action. Approximately 45 min long and took us the length of the 'Backs' between Silver Street and Quayside. The tour included Queens' College and the Mathematical Bridge, King's College, Claire College, Trinity Hall, Trinity College, St. John's College, the Bridge of Sighs, and Magdalene College. There are several competing companies along the embarkation point but we thought this one was a reasonable length and price. The punt guide was knowledgeable and fun. Though he lived in Cambridge he actually went to Sheffield Uni but that made no difference to the quality of his punt work or guidance. It is worth paying to be guided as we witnessed several punters in a bit of a state when it came to guiding the punt, who had hired the punt to do it themselves as well as them missing out on the interesting info you get with your guide. There can be a bit of a cacophony of guides saying the say thing in stereo if you pass other punts close by but this was funny rather than annoying we found.

After being ripped off on price at the train station by ANOTHER punting company (we haggled down to £25 each which was still overpriced, rhe original price was £40 each!! and missing the punt time due to my friends mobility issue, we were unable to take the 2pm . We were offered a 5pm instead but my train home left earlier than that, so they told we would have to go back to get our cash paid from the booth outside the train station

So we walked around the corner to Cambridge Chauffered Punts who treated us very kindly the price was what you expect to pay (do not be ripped off at the booth outside the train station) and find this company instead!
Many thanks to Marthew for his kindness and for getting us on a punt within 15 minutes of arrival on a warm, busy, summer Saturday afternoon, and also to our punter Erin, for his knowledge and humour, a very enjoyable relaxing 45 minute experience of something that really must be done if visiting Cambridge, highly recommended.
**Do not be ripped off on price, please check out Cambridge Chauffeured Punt first for a great service and price**

Arrived in Cambridge for the day as a stopover for the night before returning home to Germany. Came across a few Punt sales people and then then came across the staff from here. Well the first thing that gets a major tick is that they didn’t push for a hard sell (that grinds me) they were informative and relaxed. Decided to take a shared Punt tour at £20 each. There was myself and my partner along with 2 other couples. The guide was super friendly and really informative of the history (which is exactly what we wanted) the ticket seller was also so friendly as was the manager in the ticket office. Super relaxed and excellent service, also after checking online I found them to be the best priced Punt company around. Overall a fantastic experience.

We had a wonderful experience as Natalie our Chauffeuse extraordinaire 🤗 kept us out of danger 🤪 and gave us a fabulous narrative on the history of the sites we passed. She manoeuvered her way around the chaotic amateur punters with a calm, professional and good humoured approach. Thank you, we had a great time.

Lovely punt down the River. Our guide, Ryan, great! Cost less than their competitors, for the same experience.
Would recommend paying the extra for a guide, punting is a lot harder than it looks, with some other "self-navigating" punters struggling.

I would recommend this company, they are brilliant. We wanted to go on a punt but didn't want to pay stupid prices. This company are very reasonably priced, and all the staff we met were superb - friendly, helpful and knowledgeable. One impressed us by speaking fluent Mandarin to two Chinese girls who shared our punt. Our chauffeur was Spiros, who spoke perfect English and knew all about the history of the colleges as we passed. It was a boiling hot day and we were provided with green and white umbrellas to give some shade, we noticed no other people had them so we were very lucky. Thank you Cambridge Chauffeur Punts for a memorable trip.
