It's quite a slog up to the Boer War memorial at the top of Coombe Hill, but the spectacular views of the Chilterns are worth every lung busting step. It's usually windy up here and this time it was an icy blast, but it didn't...More

Hadn’t been here for a while but went up just before Christmas and could only see about 10 feet ahead due to the fog but a cool breeze and all that fresh air was still enjoyable as we sat and chatted and had a hot...More

One of my favourite places on earth. A lovely walk with some steep bits is rewarded by the best views of the Chiltern Hills especially on a clear day. Make sure you wrap up warm though, especially in the winter as the wind is bitter...More

Perfect for an afternoon with the kids. Wrap up warm in winter (the winds whip up) or bring a picnic in summer but enjoy the stunning views and often the cows, sheep and Red Kites. Either drive and park at the top or walk up...More

There is off street parking or station parking at wendover railway station, which on a Sunday is quite (£4.50 for the day). This is a circular walk of about 3miles and climbs in elevation about 500 feet but when you get to the monument at...More

As the highest point in the Chilterns, you certainly get a good view! Best to go on a sunny/ clear day as it can get blustery being so high up. There are some lovely walks in the area. There is plenty of non-hilly walking around...More

Parking is available at the top of the hill so no climbing is necessary. Parking at the bottom is not an option as that is close to Checkers and there is no space available.
