We were passing by on our first visit to Aylesbury and thought we'd have a little look in. The Islamic Art exhibition was very interesting and quite sizeable. There were some other interesting parts to the museum, and I can imagine the wood exhibits to be interesting for some youngsters. There was a strange reference to church services in another exhibition... Overall I would say this place is good, the current display on the arts of Islam for regional museum is especially impressive, less impressive are permeant displays, which seemed to themed around certain themes roman and Celts and different material i.e. clay, wood and jewellery there are also displays of picture of Buckinghamshire which are nice , it also important... Full of local interest with frequently changing exhibitions, some of national importance, like the Art of Islam exhibition running at the moment. Lots of hands-on things for children (and adults), plus the Roald Dahl experience specially for the children. They also have a very nice little café and a garden to sit in in the summer.

OK I'm biased - have had contact with the museum for over 40 years. It's permanently displayed collections relate to the whole county of Buckinghamshire and there are always child-centred activities available, It's all free (and hopefully will stay so despite local authority cuts), except for the Roald Dahl centre. Apart from the permanent displays there are changing exhibitions in... More

We are local to Aylesbury, and every year we make a turn to the museum. They change the exhibitions and my children love exploring the old and new things. As they grow there is something new to interest them. As there is no charge to go in, we always make a donation. Good place to buy unique gifts for people... More

I visited with my Mum during term time so quite quiet, it was very interesting to see the exhibits, the staff were very friendly and informative. They have a coffee shop also on site, a small shop with postcards etc, great for the children in the holidays.

A very well laid out and extremely interesting museum. It is set in the old part of Aylesbury so not the easiest place to find, but well worth seeking out. The exhibits are very good and the staff very helpful. They have many themed events, so its worth checking out the website before visiting to see whats on. Very good.

Worth seeking out in a part of Aylesbury's town centre that has survived modernisation, demolition and an inner urban road ring nearby. Although the old group of buildings means the local history is rather divided up into room-sized separate eras there is much worth seeing. Two stuffed Aylesbury Ducks are in a prominent position. The upstairs space houses quality touring... More

We visited this on the way back from the Roald Dahl Museum in Great Missendon. It cost about the same as the Museum had making for an expensive day and was in the same format as the Roald Dahl Museum. The actual BC Museum part is free I should add. We were ushered into the centre by museum staff who... More

We visited to see a special exhibit, but found many interesting items while we were there. The museum has a great collection of permanent items that are significant in local history, and a very good section devoted to the history of central Buckinghamshire.
