The loveliest spa day

Visited today for a spa day , was slightly dubious after seeing the poor reviews but was pleasantly surprised !
All members of staff were welcoming and helpful , enjoyed use of the pool , sauna room etc and had a lovely facial , will be back :) oh and lunch was delicious too!

Won’t accept vouchers

I had a voucher for a spa day that expired on 30th Sept and they wouldn’t let me book. They kept saying my voucher had expired even though the voucher provider assured me it had not. They asked for the pin of the voucher and I haven’t heard back for 2 weeks so I give up with them. Have since exchanged the voucher for another experience and booked it for a few weeks time without any issues.

Pretty poor customer service. I’m a member and I booked a child swim session on the app and arrived with child in tow only to be told children can only swim if they’re a member. There is nothing on the app which states this, so I had a pretty disappointed child to deal with.

The girl who was on reception was fairly unsympathetic and unhelpful and did not offer any alternatives e.g I asked if we could return later if the pool wasn’t too busy etc. Note that I could see we were the only people who’d booked on the app for that slot - so it was hardly going to be at capacity.

I appreciate covid rules need to be in place relating to children using the pool however this needs to be clear on the app.

The facilities are generally poor and not worth the price - pool either too cold or strangely warm, jacuzzi often lukewarm although staff will top it up with a hose if you ask them, and often the relaxation room is freezing cold.

They also seem to close at odd times at the moment - my partner had to cut his swim short recently as the pool was closing an hour earlier than it states online - again; clearer information could have avoided this.

This club has lost a lot of members over the last year due to covid and I can’t see them returning unless things improve.

Avoid, avoid, avoid!!! The website let's you book and requires payment to secure your booking - fine. You then get an email stating you CANNOT have your treatments as they are fully booked! No refunds!! Absolutely DISGUSTING that they allow you to book when they're full!

Relaxing & friendly spa

My first visit as had a voucher for spa day. Despite the Covid restrictions, the experience was really relaxing & the staff all really friendly and did their best to make it a really positive experience. I had a back massage which was one of the best I have had (unfortunately I do not know the therapists name). Thanks to all the staff, you did a great job. I would definitely return again.

Self Isolation

I have been trying to freeze my account as I am self isolating (over 70) but am finding it impossible to do so, despite their proclaimed policy statement. There is no provision to do it on their website and the number I have been given to rings constantly engaged. My local branch say they are unable to help. Very disappointing. When my membership runs out I may well cancel.

1 hour late for treatment

I booked a treatment for myself at 1200, my mum at 12.45. We planned the day around these times and ensured that we arrived in time to use the facilities first. When we got there, we were told that they had moved the treatment times (hadn’t told us prior) and had pushed the first one back to 12.15. At 12.10, we went up for our treatments and were told that they had been moved again, to 12.30. When we got there again at 12.30, we waited around and someone then said that they were running late. They offered to take my mum in at around 12.40, so I was left in the waiting room. When the other therapists eventually came out, they weren’t aware of the delay or my treatment. My treatment finally started at 1300, an hour later than I booked. When I was in the massage, three different people walked into the room and interrupted. Luckily the therapist who did the massage was professional and friendly (Natasha). Complained at the front desk but they just said someone had been off sick. I know sickness can’t be prevented but a bit of communication and organisation wouldn’t go a miss. Very unprofessional, unorganised service. Very disappointed given the amount of money spent and also it being my mums first spa experience

Complaints leading to long waits.

So having complained to head office. I then waited a month for a response to these issues. Below is how the club is portrayed on the website and part of the area managers response to my complaint.

I’ve received a response defending themselves saying no one gets paid under minimum wage. (Not that I ever said they were)

My email as follows

My issues were

• Stained and rough feeling robes that were being washed throughout the day and wheeled across the cafe area.
• The charge for these”spa bags”
• The food microwaved potatoes and also in bag poached eggs.
• The staff stating that they get paid minimum wage. In a place that’s supposed to offer luxury days? No person will go or should be expected to go above and beyond for under living wage.
• The facilities, are not suitable for spa days. For treatments it’s fine. Small rooms and the spa ladies have far too much work to do.
• It’s just an gym with a cafe and treatment rooms in it. Not an experience day. The photos on the Bannatyne website the comparison is shocking.
• Members loudly complaining about spa days. As they should!! There’s not enough room for members to enjoy their daily visit with a huge stream of extra people every single day.

The staff are underpaid and overworked. The place doesn’t have room for all the bookings. The staff are doing the best they can with a poor facility.

This was the complete opposite of a relaxing day. I’ve never left a place so agitated. My sister was just distraught as soon as we drove away.

I suppose I should have checked on trip advisor.

I’ve had no apology just an apology for me having to wait. Not for this awful day.

Ok, But wouldn’t Visit again

On arrival, staff seemed friendly however when being shown to the beauty area for our treatments the beauty therapists seemed to be disorganised and not ready on our arrival. Then there was mis communication and instead of the 2 mini treatments we had booked we had one treatment lasting the same time. Massage and facial were good but definitely room for improvement. The therapist realised once i was ready for my massage that there was no oil in the room so had to go out again. When i asked her to go deeper with the massage she didn’t seem to adjust the pressure. My friends facial wasn’t that relaxing as it seemed rushed. I think they overbooked and also we overheard the therapists complaining to each othee about clients... very unprofessional!!! If you want a really relaxing and pampered treatment i would not recommend this place.

Mum & Daughter Spa Day was OK

Booked a last minute deal on wowcher for my mum & I to have a spa day with 2 x 25 minute treatments. As we didn’t have these treatments booked in until 4:15pm we thought we would make the most of the facilities and have a nice relaxed spa day. Facilities were very disappointing as upon arrival the jacuzzi was out of order (despite being told at reception that someone was coming out to look at this and would hopefully be sorted in the next few hours) and it was also a lot smaller than expected. After spending the day in between the slow lane of the pool (when there was no aqua aerobics), the sauna/steam room and the cafe we went to get our treatments. No one was there to greet us on arrival so we were left wondering whether we actually did have anything booked in. 10 minutes after our time slot, the beauticians appeared and explained they were running a little behind. Once we got into the treatment room (25 minutes late) there was confusion as to what we were both having despite this being clear on our booking confirmation (which did not feel us with confidence). The treatments themselves were very relaxing and couldn’t fault them but I am unsure as to what products were used as there was no explanation afterwards. I don’t think we would visit again despite the good price!
