lovely spot to see the cathedral and walk on some grass that may have some artwork on it. Not far from harbour or town centre making it a nice stop point between the two.

Pleasant green open space. Great in summer - with fountains near the Council House. Close to interesting shops in Park Street, car parking easy. Cathedral right beside it, docks not far away.

A fitting setting for City Hall and another first class area in Bristol Central. The cathedral, library, water feature and central garden are delightful in summer and a comforting journey's-end sight in winter.

College Green is without a doubt my favourite place in Bristol. On a sunny autumn day with the trees a shade of auburn and the grass a lush green, sitting on the grass for lunch, along with groups of others on the grass is just...More

A green space on the edge of the city and right next to the cathedral. Lovely flower beds and fountains and some city history.

This is a great place to pause and catch your breath whilst enjoying the beautiful buildings surrounding the square. Children will enjoy spotting the unicorns on top of the council building.

This is normally a quiet oasis and nice area. On this visit there were a couple of untidy areas with rubbish and tents, it was not clear what was going on.

Nice spot for a quick packed lunch or even a read. On occasion events are held here, memorials, festivals. Well kept and links the floating harbour to the Bristol Cathedral and Library.

Tapestries - Houses of Parliament - Bank of Ireland (1 Reply)
Hi, Can someone please tell me if the Boyne and Derry tapestries in the old Houses of Parliament (now Bank of Ireland) at College Green, are still available to view? I had heard they were being taken down for cleaning. Thanks

College Green bus gate suspended for Christmas period (15 Replies)
Dublin City Council has suspended the College Green bus gate which bans cars from passing through the area between 4pm and 7pm. This means that cars will be able to drive freely through the area from 18th November for 2 months.

It was the Dublin Business Association who were instrumental in bringing this backward step forward. It's a wonder they didn't get Grafton Street opened back up to traffic too while they were at it. Better public transport infrastructure is what is needed - not this.

Bus, Car or Walk to Balloon Fiesta from College Green (3 Replies)
See that there will be a dedicated bus service fron Central Bristol to the Balloon Fiesta site. No details on the websites, that I've been able to find, so far as to where the service starts from. Anyone know where the nearest stop to College Green will be? Is the bus the best option or would driving and parking in one of the official car parks be easiest / quickest on leaving at the end of the night. Or would walking be quickest [thinking crowds, traffic chaos] as it looks to be about 2 1/2...More

You won't miss where the shuttle bus stops - you'll see the queues! Opposite the Hippodrome theatre just along from College Green is the large pedestrianised area where the fountain/water feature is (I think it has a name but I can't remember what it is). Temporary metal barriers snake around and people queue here. I remember a couple of years ago when I still lived down that way it was a roasting hot day and me and a friend got a portion of chips each (strange choice for a hot day I...More
