My husband and I took the ferry tour earlier this year. He is originally from Bristol and even he learned a number of things that he did not know.

A great way to hear about the history of the river and see parts of the city from the water. The guides are helpful and informative, and on one of the boats they provide tea service. The boats also dock at S.S Greta Britain and will pick you up at a later time if required.

We had only 8 hours in Bristol and were so glad we used the Water Ferry to make our way from the train station to the ss Great Britan and on to Clifton Village. I think kids will love this method of transport too. You can sit inside or outside and the drivers are very friendly.

The young guy was really helpful. Sorted out my grand child in a push chair, even though we were too many for the ostensibly.

The boat trip is a nice add-on to the Bristol Insight bus tour, taking routes A and B along the Avon river. However, they really need to include a guide, to explain the significance of the buildings. Visitors don't know this information.

We took various different ferries whilst we were in Bristol. Service is always very careful, polite & safe. But there is no fare card posted anywhere on any of the boats, plus they only take cash, and do not issue tickets or receipts. A very strange system - but prices seemed fair. Good way to see Bristol.

Just for a change of viewpoint try Bristol Ferry Boat. Have the correct cash ready is helpful. We paid our £1.50 each (children go free or cheap, check beforehand though) after boarding the boat. It is a wonderful way to see Bristol. We caught the boat by the SS Great Britain and hopped off at the City Centre.

The Bristol Ferry service is definitely one of the very best things in the heart of this great city.

You can go on short or long trips and the description of the water way when on board is really excellent. We have been in a large party with food as well and it is an excellent way to see another side of Bristol. Obviously in the good weather it is nicer still.

I helped take a college class on board the ferry for a tour of the docks, and it was fantastic. Everyone enjoyed it and all staff were very friendly and accommodating.
