This was a most enjoyable walk over 14 days at the end of July. C2C Packhorse tailored it to our requirements, arranging excellent overnight accommodation and faultlessly moving our overnight bags from one place to the next. This allowed the four of us to concentrate of the walking, carrying only relatively light day bags. The walk takes you through varied... More

C2c I hiked the Lake District of the c2c with my friend. One of the top experiences of my life. We used Sherpa to help us book inns and move our bags. After we completed this potion we went up to Keswick by bus and enjoyed our stay there also. Where to start the stunning beauty goes without saying. But... More

A friend and I walked this in seventeen days. We basically stuck to the route but one day near the end when we didn't have a lot of hiking to do, we took a detour via old-fashioned steam train to the beautiful coastal town of Whitby, with its lovely ruined abbey. The Packhorse Company organized b and b stays for... More

We just returned from England, having completed a self-guided Coast to Coast, organized by Northwest Walks. Kudos to them for a great experience (although I told them I would have paid extra for good weather in the Lake District!). We chose Northwest Walks because they offered the longest itinerary: three weeks (we opted to include two rest days), with shorter... More

Other Wainwright commenters have covered most relevant topics. Here are a few additional notes based on our recent C-to-C trek: How many days - Our group ranged in age from 63-70. We were generally fit though none of us were accomplished walkers. We did the trek in 14 days, finding it challenging but do-able. Navigation - To successfully navigate the... More

This walk led us to visit beautiful and remote places that offer us an unforgettable series of memories. Nature is quite preserved and during some days the only living creatures we met between two points of the trail were sheeps and birds. Accommodations and spots to eat or buy necessary gear were not hard to find along the way, even... More

We just finished a 13-day guided hike across most of northern England. It was a remarkable experience. For those inclined, you should look into it. There are options - from complete packages (e.g. National Geographic, Mt Sobek, Sierra Club) with guides, inns, meals and portage of luggage - all the way down to backpacking on your own. The trail is... More

My wife and I (65 and 70) just returned from doing the Coast to Coast in 16 days and really enjoyed it. I think other reviewers cover most of what people need to know about this very rewarding walk but I would add a couple of things: 1. We used Packhorse out of Kirkby Stephens to book our accommodations and... More

I have just completed the walk - I took 13 nights and 14 days and walked solo. I am over 60, but I really think age is irrelevant on this walk - it is essential to be physically fit. I am a regular walker and for the previous 6 weeks or so I was doing an all day walk, 8... More

I walked the Coast to Coast in thirteen days, and found the experience highly rewarding. I know others who have done it, and I have yet to meet anyone who did not find the experience worth the effort. Having done several other National Trails in Britain, and loving every one, I still must give the nod to C2C as the... More
