唐朝丢掉西域众府之后，再没有哪个中央政府能够对新疆有过实际的控制，纵是强大如蒙古人，也是察合台的后人在中亚建立汗国与中土的元朝征伐砍杀，而这片土地上的人们继续着伊斯兰化的进程。而后强大的瓦剌蒙古准噶尔人的强大统治了天山南北，这只彪悍的蒙古骑兵南联喇嘛，北拒沙俄，西虐哈萨克，东扰大清，实为当时的一方霸主。清王朝与之激战百年，康熙帝御驾亲征过，年羹尧在青海也围剿过，也只有在乾隆二十年准部内乱之时，才趁机完全剿灭。除了归附的土尔扈特部，北疆蒙古人几近灭族，只留下了北疆诸多蒙古语的地名。这块碑是这段历史的见证，也是新疆正式进入中央政府管辖的见证。造化弄人，一百年后，左公再复新疆，无奈国力衰弱，此地以西尽入沙俄之手，竟成了国界所在。壮美如伊犁河谷，竟也是与邻一衣带水了。

建议和当地熟人一起去，否则根本看不见，军方哨卡所在，其实就是就是一个纪功碑，还要开车许久，当然有点关系，还可以利用望远镜看看哈萨克斯坦的生活
