Nice place with such awesome butterflies. Kids love it. It's just too small and short. I wish they had it bigger, it would be much more fun and worthwhile. Gift shop is there as well.

An excellent side trip in Victoria B.C. The young people will love this attraction. Very warm-humid inside so be prepared. It was well worth the visit. For American tourists, the gift shop only gives back change in Canadian money.

Beautiful butterfly gardens, but keep in mind it's very humid inside. There are also turtles, flamingos and a few parrot/birds.

Pros: I enjoyed; learning about butterflies (life cycle) and got a cool video of butterflies collecting pollen/nectar from wild flowers. The best part for me was checking out the slides of butterfly feathers under the microscope which is kept at the back of the gift shop. There are also facts given on each slide about the characteristics about each feather... More

We greatly enjoyed visiting this place as we could see the hand of our creator God in the beauty of each and every individual butterfly. It was also wonderful to interact with the birds.

I expected more...but it was fun. Can easily get through in an hour. If crowded very difficult to move around. There were parrots you could hold but people didn't share the experience very well. Loved the wildlife (real ducks, flamingos, lizards) The butterflies were more stand offish than I expected. They flew away from most pictures and didn't want to... More

Nice place to see butterflys up close and personal. All are free flying and don't be surprised if one lands on you. Besides butterflys there are several other animals enjoying the garden space. There is really much to see if one slows down and takes the time to look instead of rushing through the exhibit. Besides the animals, there are... More

Tropical foliage and temp / humidity inside. Lots of butterflies, and there's some tropical birds too. we saw a couple of iguanas and flamingos. Every living thing is free to roam inside with you. The green parrot even came to visit us. Take your time as you walk through to enjoy the varieties of butterflies that will flutter around you.

These gardens are just too experience to justify going here. There are a few beautiful butterflies, but not enough to justify the entrance fee. My two grandchild ages 3 and 6 enjoyed it for about 5 minutes and then they wanted to go. Spend more time at Butchart and save your money by skipping this attraction.

It was so much more than just butterflies. There were several birds (parrots, macaws, flamingos), tortoises and turtles, frogs and several beautiful plants. We were told to expect to spend about an hour, but we pushed close to 2, and would've stayed longer had they not been getting ready to close. :)
