These internationally acclaimed floral display gardens, and National...

These internationally acclaimed floral display gardens, and National Historic Site of Canada, started over 100 years ago and remain privately owned by the family. Jennie Butchart wanted to make her husband's depleted limestone quarry look better and the result is the Sunken Garden. Other gardens include the Rose Garden, the Japanese Garden and the Italian Garden. The gardens are meticulously maintained and provide a riot of colour for much of the year. During the summer, special lighting subtly illuminates the gardens, musical entertainment takes place on the Concert Lawn, and there are ten spectacular Saturday night Firework Shows. The Magic of Christmas season also has beautiful lighting and evening entertainment, and an outdoor skating rink. Spring offers hundreds of thousand flowering bulbs and Autumn is the time for dahlias, chrysanthemums and fall colours. The Gardens is open daily, year round.

The sunken garden and fountains was fabulous. Even though it is late in the year, there was so much colour. Lovely formal, Japanese and Italian gardens. Dahlias so large, as well as busy lizzies. Excellent shop.

We were staying at Snooke on the island and we had some free time and decided to return to the Butchart Gardens. Its beauty has not change, if you live in the desert, so appreciate the beauty of Butchart Gardens and the lay out of it. It was great day to visit for just beautiful sunny day. Take your time... I have to say I was somewhat disappointed. The gardens are undeniably beautiful but they certainly did not live up to the expectation. The cost to get there and the high admission fee did not enhance the experience.

I went to the gardens in September with my father and sister and had a lovely time. The gardens are very well taken care of, well manicured, and you can take your time strolling around the gardens as it is a very tranquil environment. We took a ton of pictures of flowers and the landscape, and enjoyed the entire place... More

I am not a gardener, but I was recommended to visit the gardens by several people, so I went. Although the gardens are beautiful, and I am not questioning the time and money it takes to upkeep the gardens, I found the $30 entry fee quite high to be able to walk around a few gardens. Not being a gardener,... More

My wife and I both agreed that this was what we were most impressed with on our recent visit to Victoria and Vancouver Island. Meticulously groomed and beautifully coordinated. Well worth the price of admission. We got there early and were spared crowds. Almost magical setting. Thankfully there were people who pioneered such gigantic tasks that eventually lead to such... The girls in the group when across. They loved the whole experience. The gardens, Victoria and the ferry ride. Long day but worth it.

This is a fantastic garden, definitely first class. Stunningly cared for and open year round with garden spectacle after garden spectacle. The Garden's Rose Carousel is the only carousel on Vancouver Island. It is housed within the Childrens Pavilion, with its high dome, full-fronted glass and a roof planted with native plant species. The menagerie has thirty animals which include... More
