This hike is extraordinary and well worth the time. It's a good 10 min drive up a steep dirt road that is shared by traffic in both directions. When you arrive at the top, the expansive view is incredible. Then you can walk on a very narrow trail running parallel to the edge of steep Mt. Warburton. It's unbelievably beautiful. The grade is pretty flat once you're up there on the trail. Where else can you watch hawks soar in the air beneath you--and small aircraft as well?!

We enjoyed the drive up. While the road is narrow and windy and rutted it could be a lot worse. The view from the top is amazing. We were there early while it was still cool and quiet. WOW.
We dropped down to the goat path and the hike along Brown Ridge. It was good to go early as the trail can get very hot. The trail is just a goat path that slowly drops over about 2 km and of course climbs the 2 kms on the way back.
We are happy we were early as we ran into two groups of goats along the trail. A couple of groups that came behind us did not see any.
This is a must just for the view, but if you have the time take the walk.

This is definitely not a highway grade road, more a one lane dirt road that takes you from a turn-off of Harris Rd up along a winding logging-type road to the top of Mt. Warburton Pike. There are a couple of towers for various radio and television services, and an incredible view of Pender Island, Vancouver Island and beyond. It is really nice at any time of the year but absolutely stunning on a clear warm day in the summer.

Feral goats can usually be seen down along the ridge and the eagles always seem to be visible somewhere amongst the tree tops or cruising high in the wind currents. What I find sometimes is the very noticeable and awesome quiet. Not a sound from anywhere and you really do feel as though you have the entire planet to yourself.

Caution: Watch your footing in the dried summer grass, it can be very slippery when stepping off the trail. And watch your speed on the road, particularly on the return trip down, since there might be another visitor on the way up. The road is winding and not very wide.

If you get all the way to Saturna, don't miss the trip to the top.

The drive up Mount Warbuton Pike was doable in a Prius hybrid as long as you are careful. Just a narrow dirt road with small potholes winding up the mountain. Learn to tuck in and wait when you see an oncoming car (and there is no room for both of you to pass each other). The views are fantastic at the top: you see Pender Islands, Salt Spring, Vancouver Island and of course, the US San Juan Islands on a sunny day. We even saw feral goats while walking the ridge! Trail leads into forests and ridge can be steep and slippy so wear good hiking shoes and sunhat. Plenty of free parking at summit. Lots of birds flying below. Cool!

Winding bumpy road but we got up here in a Beetle...you can do it too! A must do! A lot like Turtleback Mountain on Orcas...at the top all of the little islands are strewn in the water. Stop at Saturna Store and bring lunch or a snack up!

Drive to the top was a little bit rough but easily passable in a two wheel drive car. From there a fairly level walk along the top of the ridge. Beautiful vistas. Lots of eagles.

Drove up the dirt road, we had a truck but it could be done in a car, to Mount Warburton Pike on a clear view. Beautiful view from the top and there wasn't another single person there. There is a trail at the top that is a single track trail going along a ridge. With young kids I only ran a few hundred meters of it while my family stayed at the vehicle. Will need to come back either by myself or when the kids are older and check this trail out as I heard it was very enjoyable from people who did it.

This is by far the most spectacular view in the Southern Gulf Islands, plus there are feral mountain goats! If you visit Saturna, this is a must see!

I always hike this when I visit Saturna. You will see the most incredible views!
The Ferrell goats will be along the ridge which is an added bonus.

Reached by following Staples Rd, after turning right onto Harris Rd near recycling centre. The road is narrow and winding to the summit. Well worth the trip for the spectacular views over the islands. There are few better views to be found anywhere. A goat trail winds around the mountainside for those looking for a walk, worth doing but not a casual stroll. There are feral goats to be seen and the soaring eagles are beautiful to watch. A must see when visiting Saturna.
