We stopped in to see Calvin Hunt and his workshop/gallery after meeting his daughter on a kayaking trip. Calvin is a well renowned First Nations artist and carver. Is works are on display throughout the world. The works are in various stages of completion and are beautiful and in many cases, of museum quality. But it's the man himself that makes this experience extraordinary. He shared insights and wonderful experiences about his art and native culture. Spending a few minutes with him in his workshop were truly memorable.

Calvin Hunt is a Kwakwaka’wakw Master Carver, a mentor and a leader within his community. His works are featured in major museums and private collections around the world. In his carving shed, we saw several canoes. You go through his studio to get to the gallery which is an opportunity to see his tools and some of the pieces currently "in progress". In the gallery there are prints, historical photos, masks, baskets, weaving, from a number of artists. There is a wonderful view of the shoreline and islands from the balcony.
