Just as the country is trying to creep back to some normality, on Monday lunchtime, two ladies who had done a 'long walk' and wanted a drink, declared loudly they 'had no masks' entered the takeaway holding a T shirt up over their mouths, dodged backwards and forwards past people to get cold drinks, again remarked on their 'long walk' and eventually paid and left. This isn't fair on your staff and most definately gives no thought for the safety of other customers. I most definately will bring my own food, drink in future. Avoid!! A sign saying 'masks must be worn' just doesn't cut it. Also, though understandable maybe, the price of food has rocketed.

Notices all over the cafe take out about catering for allergies, but when asking for anything lactose free there’s nothing I could have. I also got a very rude and firm lecture about them having to buy milk from the local farmer. I pointed out that if they can buy the odd carton of soya and oat milk, then they could buy the odd carton of lactose free ordinary milk. The girl got very argumentative and told me that soya milk or oat milk was good enough and “ what more do you want!”
Zero choice, appalling attitude.

Our visit on 1st October was disappointing. The cafe wasn't serving hot chocolate or latte and the choice of sandwiches was poor. We ordered filter coffee and tea and the service was abrupt bordering on rude. Tasteless egg sandwiches and extremely dry fruit scones. The menu has obviously been pared down so it should have been much better.

My daughter was returning from her Duke of Edinburgh expedition and wanted to buy two ice creams. It turned out she was out of funds. Her card was declined twice, and the lady behind the till bought them for her from her personal funds! What a kind-hearted lady. Thank you so much!

Despite some of the poor reviews, we found our time at Ilam Park Tea Room to be very pleasant. With plenty of seating available, we found everything to be clean, hygenic and as it should be. The service staff had no issue with catering to our allergenic needs and supplied us with delicious coffee and cake!

The only reason it gets a 1 is that it is swarming with wasps. We had a dog, so we weren't aloud inside even though we still asked. Our whole tray of food was covered in them. I was screaming. It was awful. Had to get takeaway facilities as it had cost me £16 and I wasn't leaving it. Saw another couple leave. The grounds are stunning. It's such a shame about this. First time visit definitely put me off. You should maybe have an interior part that's dog friendly.

Visited for coffee and cake. Great views outside and plenty of room inside
Cake was lovely, I could have eaten the entire cake. Coffee did the trick and there was a reasonable selection of soft drinks for mini me.
Well Worth a visit

Thank you for your lovely review. We are so pleased you enjoyed our homemade cake and we quite agree it’s the perfect accompaniment to a warming coffee or refreshing brew. There’s nothing nicer too than been able to enjoy a cake adventure with family or friends, young and old alike.
The money you spend in the tearoom helps us to continue important conservation work in Ilam Park and other special places in the Peak District, so once again thank you for your contribution.
We hope to welcome you back very soon.

Got to be the worst scone I have ever had( & there have been many) it was large so the cream & jam was only enough for half of it. It was so stale , at least 2 days old I couldn’t eat the other half at all as I tried to butter it but that was cold it just broke up. Such a shame as the scones here used to be baked fresh every morning. Used to visit several times while on holiday in the area but sadly will not be returning. Get your act together National Trust.

As a member of the national trust we have travelled all over the country visiting different trust sites and we have now found the most inefficient tea rooms they own! 40 minutes in a queue just to get a cup of coffee is totally unacceptable and I put that complaint firmly at the feet of the staff running it who were next to useless. The whole queue was in disbelief at the total inefficiency of it all, everyone was moaning or complaining. Normally as you approach the till point there is one person taking orders and preparing coffee or tea in advance of the customers getting to the till while other staff actually at the till are also doing the same meaning that they are all facilitating the sale as much as possible. Here at Ilam the person at the til point was basically doing it all while another person standing at the side of her was also seeing to the same person! There were other staff floating in and our but none of them were seeing to other people in the queue. End result, loads of unhappy customers wasting the precious time they have available at the weekend. This experience was the worst I have ever seen at a Trust site by a long long way and we will never return. I hate to think what it will be like in the summer if today is anything to go by! So thumbs down Manifold Tea Rooms and welcome to the worst service in the UK Club!

Thank you for taking the time to tell us about your visit to the Manifold Tea Room in Ilam Park. We regret that you were disappointed by the service that you received
.
On busy weekends, driven by good weather, school holidays and local events, our tea room can reach capacity very quickly and demand simply exceeds what we are able to offer. Despite this, our team work incredibly hard to maintain efficient service and deliver high quality food. There is often lots going on behind the scenes to enable the front of house to operate.
Naturally, we would prefer the high capacity days to run as seamlessly as our usual service, so we are always looking at new ways to reduce queues and improve overall efficiency. In fact, we are currently trialling a new ‘Grab and Go’ catering outlet in our Visitor Centre that we hope will alleviate queues and provide a quick alternative for those wishing to purchase hot drinks and snacks to take-away. The outlet is open at weekends and during school holidays and proved a great success over the recent Bank Holiday. We are hopeful that this will improve the experience of our visitors in future.
We understand how frustrating it can be to encounter queues when you would rather be sitting down to enjoy refreshments. Please be assured that we are, and continue to do everything we can to deliver the high quality of service that has made us so popular.
We hope that in future, you will consider visiting the Manifold Tea Room again and thank you for providing your feedback, which is always important to us.

Are dogs allowed in the tearooms?
NationalTrustPeak
Peak District, UK1 contribution
Although dogs aren't permitted in the main 'Manifold Tea-room'. our ‘Grab and Go’ catering outlet is open during the peak season and has indoor seating that can be enjoyed with your dog. When closed during the low season, you are still welcome to use this seating (located in the Visitor Centre) and our staff will bring your food to you once you have placed your order – just let them know where you're sitting.
Of course, when the weather's a bit nicer, the tea-room garden is the very best place to enjoy your refreshments so that you and your dog can take in the impressive view.
