Wildlife near the concrete world

Feeding of the wild dogs, cheetah and lion was offered at a specific time. Large park were you can see rhino, lions, cheetah and wild dogs to name a few. Although in a small reserve the animals are all in an excellent condition.
You can do a self drive or book a game drive.

Perfect day out
Jan 2021 • Family
We visited for the day and had a very enjoyable time. There was plenty og game and the roads were mostly in very good condition. The predators are kept in big camps but we were not able to see the lions. Had a very good sighting of the wild dog. We visited the Wildlife Centre and the animals they keep there. It was very informative. Also had a great picnic at the picnic site. There are ample space even if it gets busy. We even had a sighting of 2 rhino before we left for the exit. Overall a good place to visit and worth the effort and money.

Rhino on your doorstep if you live in Gauteng.

We hired two of the log cabins for two nights. So close to the Lion enclosure you can hear them roaring at night. Going on a game drive you are sure to see plenty of Rhino, as well as many other species.
The 7 of us that went all thouroughly enjoyed the break.

Stayed over, was ok
Aug 2020 • Friends
Spent a weekend in the log cabins. Was a little disappointed - the cabins themselves are extremely dated and the bed is the worst I’ve slept on in years. We also had the sense that the wildlife aren’t REALLY dangerous as very little exists by way of security (the ladies at the lion enclosure gate, for example, didn’t look in the least concerned while the gates were open. Felt a bit like a zoo)

For the cost of staying over, there are better options. For a day trip, it’s a good option.

Setting the conservation trend - Self Drive
Mar 2020
I have been a frequent visitor to the reserve for over 12 years, and Sunday 22 March 2020 was of all the years the best. I am so impressed and proud of the reserve for taking a stand against no-petting, no-interaction with wild animals as an effort to stamp out canned lion hunting - whilst still offering memorable, educational experiences for all ages. Sunday was a rainy day - and all the cats and dogs were out to play. The self drive route is well marked and well worth the trip. A morning well-spent.

Safari experience just around the corner.

This is definitely worth a visit! Our grandchildren were visiting from the UK and going to the Rhino & Lion Park was one their highlights. The roads were okay for driving around in our vehicle and the most exciting part was the visit to the Predator Camp. We watched Lions, Cheetahs and Wild Dogs getting their food from a "bakkie", no human contact at all.
Outside the Predator Camp we saw many other animals and all in all, it was a pleasant day.

Great parc to see many wild life
Although pretty small reserve, if you are lucky (like we were) you can see all the wild life from pretty close. Was a cloudy day so animals weren’t hiding. Made great pictures. Friendly people and rangers

Game drive just outside the city limits
Dec 2019 • Family
We spent a lovely day exploring the reserve. Roads are good and even with the recent rains we managed the self drive easily. Spotted some game and watched some of the big cat feedings. The highlight was the Wonder cave tour which was a really interesting and fun. Only downside was the cafe inside was super slow with waiting times up to 1h15m for food which wasn’t great but we managed to get a good meal at the cafe at the bike park.
Overall lovely day out and I think it will be even better once their upgrades are done and new attractions opened.

GOOD DAY OUT
Dec 2019
Good day out for the whole family. The main attraction of the reserve is the game drive, lion/wild dog/cheetah feeding and the wonder caves. The reserve also has a play area, picnic and braai facilities, small swimming pool (not very clean), walk through section with caged animals such as white tigers, leopards, jaguars, reptiles, birds,... The snake show and Cheetah Talk were also informative short lessons to attend if you're in that area. You can also feed the giraffe and the kids can enjoy a ride on bike course.
Check the website for feeding/ show/activity times and plan your day before you get there in order to make the most of the trip. I would advise going on a cooler day, the animals don't tend to come out in the heat and it gets uncomfortable driving around in the car and walking around.
Be sure to get to the predator camp early to get a good viewing space and follow the rangers van to the next feeding spot so you don't miss out.
There are some restaurants on the resort (not halaal) and chalets you can book in.
The staff are all very friendly and helpful and the rangers are always glad to answer any questions about the animals.
