About
Never is the game of golf more appealing than when a course is set in a rugged, oceanfront landscape, on linksland running firm and fast. This is Cabot Links, where the holes spread out between the sea and the village of Inverness. This is Cabot Links—as designed by gifted Canadian golf course architect, Rod Whitman—where every hole offers an ocean view and where five holes play directly adjacent to the beach. This is the first authentic links in Canada, and one of the world’s greatest courses. This is Cabot Links.

- Mersey88Toronto, Canada131 contributionsOutstanding!! Must play bucket list tripService throughout was very good. The staff in general were very good though I found the check in receptionist was a little standoffish. The rest of the staff were excellent!!! Very friendly and helpful. The two golf courses were amazing due to the views and elevation changes. If I had any complaints it would be the consistency of the greens. Otherwise, superb golf courses. The rooms were over $500 per night and the golf was $350, add $150 for the caddy it gets pricey. Bought a bunch of items from the pro shop as well so it was great trip.Visited June 2024Traveled as a coupleWritten June 5, 2024

Incredible conditions of the course, landscapes and our caddie Dave made our round fabulous. The food in the Panorama and Barn was excellent. This is course is certainly a gem of world and Inverness is such a wonderful quaint community. Loved the beach. We will definitely be back for more golf and fun. - wmccfpStuart, Florida359 contributionsAs good as it getsWhile not as visually spectacular as it's sister course, Cabot Cliffs, the Links course is the one you want to play everyday. It also has gorgeous vistas with holes that are challenging but playable (as long as you are utilizing tees consistent with your ability). There are a wide variety holes from the classic "Cape" par 4 fifth hole to the diabolical 100 yard, downhill, par 3 14th with an infinity green. Playing it for third time in 4 years and appreciating it more each time as you get to know it better.Visited September 2024Traveled with friendsWritten September 17, 2024
- flyingcolonelSt. Petersburg, Florida321 contributionsThe Cabot experience goes beyond the golfWow! Breathtaking! Majestic! Gorgeous! Scenic! Incredible! I’m running out of adjectives to describe the jaw-dropping Cabot Trail, and in particular, its crown jewel—Cabot Cliffs Golf Course. Some highly rated courses are overhyped, but not this one. Although it’s not easy to get there, and it’s not inexpensive, in my view it’s well worth it, amd a course you’ll want to play again and again. Whether you’re a seasoned golfer or someone simply seeking a bucket-list experience, Cabot Cliffs delivers on every level. The combination of world-class golf, breathtaking scenery, and impeccable service makes the trip to Cape Breton Island an absolute must. I can’t recommend it highly enough—put it at the top of your list, you won’t regret it.Visited September 2024Traveled with friendsWritten September 17, 2024

A few days ago I had the pleasure of playing Cabot Cliffs golf course, which we were passing by on a road trip. I’ll start with the positives: the views are absolutely just as breathtaking, if not moreso than the pictures you see online. What a stunning place to build a golf course! And I really enjoyed the layout. The holes were fun and I had a pleasant round.
That said, there were some major drawbacks that this place really needs to improve on, especially at the astronomical price they are charging for a round here (I paid $286 USD for a discounted twilight rate). First off, the staff at the course were not very welcoming. Though there were a lot of staff none were particularly helpful, which was especially unfortunate as it was my first time playing. There was no rundown as a first time player, and after telling them it was my first time there was still no useful information provided that I didn’t have to ask about specifically. I walk out of the pro shop and go to grab a pull cart and see that nearly all of the pull carts on standby have ripped handles. Not very luxurious! Anyways, I managed to find one in good enough shape and strolled to the driving range which was outfitted with Trackman ball trackers in every bay. Very fancy! Except I couldn’t figure out how to get it to work and there was no one out there to help with that. So be it. Then to the putting green, which was shaggy (meaning the blades of grass on the green were much longer than expected for such a premium golf course), not very fast, and had many patches of what looked like crab grass that were visibly rougher than the regular grass. How can you charge such prices when the greens are in such condition??? Seems ridiculous to me, by far the most unacceptable of all the above. Some of the greens on the course were good, some the same as the practice green, and a couple worse. The worst green of all—ironically—was on the “signature” 16th hole. This had little 5 circles cut of it, I guess for reseeding of something.
Concluding: I enjoyed playing here but it seriously underdelivered in most of the aspects that weren’t already set (the location and layout of the golf course were great from the beginning and still will be despite mismanagement). If you decide to fork over the money they’re asking for, you are buying strictly the views—not world class service and certainly not a golf course in world class condition. Which really disappointed me. I would not make a special journey to come play here.

Our stay at the resort was great and golf at the Cliffs was wonderful I would have given a 5 BUT…
The reception at the resort was fantastic, Dan at the desk was great as was our Bellman and the Lady at the Links Pro Shop.
We arrived at the Cliffs for our Tee Time and were greeted and welcomed as expected.
Things went downhill consistently after that, the gal inside the half way shop barked at me, not impressed. The gals at the Pro Shop at the Cliffs was dismissive and rude, I’m incredibly unimpressed by the lack of service provided by them. I had to ask to have one of them ring up my purchase as they both ignored me. I’m rather disgusted with that but am glad I got my souvenir as I won’t be returning after that blow off. We didn’t bother to stay for drinks, we went down the road and got excellent service at Route 19.

This course is simply out of this world. Outstanding layout with terrific fairways and glorious greens. Extremely well maintained. Stunning scenery. Make sure your camera ready and the batteries are new!! It definitely is a thrill of a life time for the serious golfer. Would highly recommend. Defntely has to be on every golfers bucket list. Especially if you live in Atlantic Canada and can take advantage of the shoulder season rates!!

The course is immaculate, very well maintained. The views are second to none! This is a walking only course for those with mobility concerns - it has quite a few hills! We had an amazing time! Unlimited balls at the driving range to begin and high end carts to make transport easier. There is only 1-2 water fill stations along the course - bring lots!

Wow. One of the most scenic and spectacular golf courses I’ve ever played. Everything was immaculate from tee to green. The greens rolled terrific but you really needed help reading the severe breaks. Staff were all very friendly. Even the breakfast we had deserved a picture. I wish it wasn’t so expensive.

The course itself is beautiful. They are trying to make this a high end destination with a true links experience. Unfortunately they fail terribly with the high end experience. The cost of a round of golf is definitely on the high end, but the experience ends there. There are no carts, it is a walking course, which is fine, if you are properly set up as such. But they do not have enough caddies to meet the demand for players requesting them, so you either have to carry your own bag or use a push cart. The website suggesting reserving your caddie in advance to be sure you have one. Well, our group did just that. Each of us "reserving the caddie level" we preferred. That was a useless exercise. When we arrived for our round, they did not have caddies for us. When our tee time arrived, they were still scrambling to find caddies to carry our bags. In the end, they managed to find two caddies for each of our two foursomes, so the caddies ended up carrying two bags each. While I know this is standard at some courses, these caddies were not use to carrying two bags, and told us so. This left the level of attention from the caddies somewhat lacking. Although they tried their best, it was just too much for them. But we were expected to pay as if we all had our own caddie (like we had reserved). Since our second foursome had to wait around for caddies, they got a late start on their tee time, and as such were slightly behind the group ahead. That didn't stop the marshal from giving them a hard time about being behind.
At the beginning of our round, a conversation with the caddie master, ensured us we would not have the same problem when we played the Links course the next day, we would not have an issue with caddies. Well he was wrong. We had the same issue at that course. Once again a caddie shortage, and total confusion.
If they want to sell themselves as a high end, waking experience they need to figure out how to accommodate golfers willing to spend the money better than they are at this time.

I'm staying late July, booked a 4:48 Twilight round on Cliffs. Will I finish before sunset?

I’m thinking of coming up to play in May. I fly standby so no cost to get there. Interested in golfing with a local that may show me around the area and then fly out next day. I’m a 10 handicap 64 year old easy going married man. Let me know...

Who are the two best caddies? (Most fun and knowledgeable)
Written August 8, 2017
That's a very hard question. Really depends on your character and with a small town you will need to find one who is local plus you will get some history. The courses has well over a 100 caddies so to narrow it down would be to difficult as the caddies work both courses.
Enjoy the course.

Hi, I'm playing playing tomorrow at 4 p.m. without a caddy. Can I bring my pushcart ?
Written May 31, 2017
They have pull carts at the course. I'm inclined to say it was included with our greens fee. With that said, I'm not sure you'd be allowed to bring your own. Enjoy!
