Lake on a Mountain has a great view but there really isn't anything there to do but the lookout. We drove all that way hoping to do some hiking because the Government website states that they have hiking there but the locals say that the land is all private. So disappointing!

We wanted to stop briefly and see the colours. You must pay and display now to park in the gravel lot. To add to the insanity the Inn is closed as is Miller house. Merely because Ontario Parks needs to gouge parking money, so you can't park on the side of the road. The county should be ashamed for this move!!

The garden is beautiful. We ate at the very bottom beside a quaint old fence under a willow tree beside the lake.
The service was prompt and friendly. Our waiter was mindful that the children would probably want to eat right away and kept an eye on their beautiful pink shirley temples.
The meal selection was not huge but well thought out and it was difficult to choose. The meals were perfectly prepared and presented and very delicious.

The food was wonderful, excellent service, you can eat outside or inside. There is a semi rustic dining room with a large fireplace that had burning logs in it. Prices were very reasonable. The outdoor patio across the road has a spectacular lake view. It was the best dining and atmosphere in PEC. My wife and I will be going back to stay at one of the cottages and spend 3 or 4 days.

Beautiful views of the lake and the Bay of Quinte where one can see the Glenora Ferry crossing between Adolphustown and Glenora. The lake is believed to be a collapsed doline, a type of sinkhole. Well worth visiting.

View of the lake on the mountain on one side, and of the Glenora ferry down below on the other side. The place is just lined up with quality restaurants and B&B's. They're also a few picnic tables of you're lucky to get hold of one!

Very disappointing. The bunkie we rented had several serious shortcomings. Aside from the postage stamp sized towels, the stairs to the loft were narrow and without a handrail, possibly dangerous for seniors and hard to believe that they were within building code. An outdoor light on the adjacent unit blazes through the bedroom window lighting the room like the 4th of July.
Worst part though is the nauseating stench from the bathroom which pervades the unit.
Kichen utilites were fine otherwise a one-star.

Excellent place to visit in Prince Edward County. The view on the Cafe patio is one of the best around for sure. Make sure you come at a sunny day and you will love the view here for both the Lake side and the cliff side. Expect lineup for the patio during summer. Very close to the ferry as well.

Nice place to stop and admire the spectacular views. With regards to the views - on side looks out onto Lake on the Mountain and on the other side you see Lake Ontario. Lake of the Mountain is some 60 meters higher than Lake Ontario. In summer it would be great to stop and have a picnic.

Beautiful location but unless you are planning to go to a restaurant around here there is not a lot to do. I thought there would be more trails to walk along and enjoy the scenery. I'm not sure if it's worth the drive out there if you're not staying nearby.

Can you walk up to the Lake on the Mountain or do you drive? Is the ferry for walking passengers or for vehicles?
Written June 30, 2015
Hi Nancy,
Lake on the Mountain has a parking area when you arrive (with a great view of the bay!). The lake is just across the road.
The ferry takes walking passengers or vehicles.
Enjoy your trip!
