We were out on the Dixie IV, a comfortable choice given the foggy cool conditions. Great wildlife viewing and Brian was clearly a knowledgeable and dedicated wildlife advocate as well. The highlight absolutely were the sea otters but we also had a close encounter with a humpback, pinky, and Sea lions. As well as black bear towards the end of... More

We went over to Ucluelet for the Labour Day long weekend. I had booked us on a Whale Watching excursion. Off we went on a Zodiac that is an open craft and carries 8-12 passengers. Our tour guide and vessel operator was Wendy. Her career has been devoted to studying marine life and she is currently studying marine mammals and... More

Went on the four hour whale and bear trip on Dixie IV with Brian. Really enjoyed the experience and spotted a bald eagle and seal before leaving the harbour. Lots of sea lions and seals but the highlight was seeing the black bear on the shore line and the humpback whale sighting. WOW!

Our captain Bryan was great!! He loved the trip just as much as we did. Just to make sure we saw the big humback Pinky and her calf, Bryan extended our tour with a couple more hours. And that beside the black bear, the sea otters and stellar sea Iions. Beautiful and a great company to travel with.

This journey is a 50th-birthday-present I got from my husband. We have been looking forward to seeing whales (and bears) for years. Subtidal was recommended to us by our B&B-hosts, so we had full confidence and didn't even read too many reviews anymore. The boat and wetsuits were very decent, Wendy explained everything very well and was very caring when... More

We went out on the Dixie IV and had a great trip! We did the bears, whales and islands tour and even though the whales eluded us it was still totally worth it! We were fortunate enough to see plenty of eagles, seals, sea lions, a bear and the cutest sea otter ever (that was the highlight of the trip... More
