We went to Vancouver island in June , saw a sign outside a door advertising Whale watching tours so in I went booked two places for the following morning and felt happy . We met Brian Condon by his boat DixieIV next day , the lovely boat was an old coast guard vessel , seeing it was in June we... More

We booked a tour with Subtidal Adventures because we wanted to explore the Broken Group Islands part of Pacific Rim National Park. Captain/owner Brian Congdon was clear that the timing and tides were not right for whales or bears and that was fine with us. Once underway, after our first heron spotting, he realized that we are bird lovers and... More

We just had the most amazing boat tour with Brian. Brian never misses a thing and seems to know the whales as friends. He showed us the otter, sea lions, seals, whales, herons, eagles and i spotted the kingfisher but I bet Brian saw it first. This trip was magical...thank you Brian! Claudia & jim

We had a fantastic time with Brian Congdon out on the Dixie IV boat looking at bears on the shore line, bald eagles, other birds, racoons and seals. I had not expected to be able to watch bears for such a long time. As we were out at sea they were not disturbed by our presence in the boat. It... More

We took this trip around the coast near Ucluelet with Brian who was obviously very experienced, and was determined to find us some black bears, which he eventually did, and we were able to watch them for at least 15 minutes before they wandered off out of sight. We also saw several bald eagles, blue herons and seals as well... More

Fantastic whale watching trip with experienced guide. Exciting zodiac boat ride around the broken islands. Saw loads of grey whales and a humpback too as well as lots of other wildlife.

Great whale watching trip with Brandon from Subtidal Adventures. We choose Subtidal for our trip because they are the longest operating company in Ucluelet and we liked the fact that it is a family business. We went out in the rain and Brandon was very knowledgable, pointing out bald eagles, seals, sea lions, herons, raccoons and 3 humpback whales, one... More

Was nice to take the kids literally on a bear hunt rather then just reading the book of the same name. Especially as we were safe in a boat. Brian was always happy to answer any questions about a range of topics and the boat Dixie IV was heated, which was a definite bonus given the episodic rain and breeze.... More

Superb morning with Brian. Without doubt the best guided nature tour we have had. We were booked for four hours but we left early and saw bald eagles, kingfisher, blue heron before the trip really started at 9am. Off to watch a black bear on the shore then out to follow a school of killer whales. On to see sealions,... More

Brian was our tour guide on a 4 hour excursion that allowed us to experience the ocean as well as a variety of wildlife. That included a host of bald eagles, sea lions, sea otters, and seals. We did not go in a season that was whale-friendly (sadly). We did not blame the whales or Brian.... The vessel is a... More
