Car parking NIGHT MARE. The signs outside and inside the car park clearly stated that the car park would close at 10PM. We even double checked at reception, as it seemed strange we had to be off the lake by 5PM but the car park didn't close until 10PM. So we left our van and went for a walk around. Only to find upon returning to our van at 7PM that the height restricting barrier (1.98m) was locked in place.
The only way out was to make a phone call and wait for almost an hour, after paying the £91.30 release fine!
No signs in the car park whatsoever that this would happen. Very frustrating- Dont go here with your van.

A bit congested near the car park and children's play areas, but keep walking on past and very quickly you are away from people, with lovely walks around the lakes. Once walking, everyone adhered to social distancing, passing people carefully or standing back. The cafe area was a dream- fast moving queue and superbly well organised food and drink production, with lots of well-distanced tables to sit at. An enjoyable trip out.

Lovely setting and well worth a visit for walking, cycling, boating, fishing. You can hire buggies. There is a large play area for children and two cafes.
On the negative side, parking charges are high (£1.70 per hour) and I wasn't impressed with the food on offer in the second newly opened cafe. The service was a bit disorganised.

Lovely place to walk - but watch the car parking charges. If you use the 'check in, check out system' you'll be charged the full day rate ... and then apparently a refund for the balance will be made to your account several days later. It's really not clear from the signage - I had to phone up to find this out after I noticed we were overcharged.

Four car loads and one dog descended on the park on the 30th December . The play area is large and much improved from when our kids were young .Nice walk around the lake .I dont see the parking charges as severe considering all the work that has taken place plus all the up keep . Cafe is a bit expensive I was told , but maybe £3.00 for a cup of tea is average ? Very enjoyable time , shame they cant move the motorway and its noise though !

We paid £4 to park our car for a couple of hours but were actually there less than an hour due to the play park being waterlogged and there being no dog free areas to have food.
We all like dogs, but my toddler is sometimes frightened of big dogs which are too close and two dogs came to the table next to us, one of which was very smelly having been in the lake. It started shaking its coat in the space where food was being served from the kitchen, which was wholly inappropriate.
There were no dog free areas at all and we would really appreciate a dog free zone in the cafe, otherwise this is one place we won’t be returning to sadly.

Came here yesterday with my family including my 2 young grandchildren. We were really impressed with the huge number of parking spaces and the fact all day parking only cost £8 which was really good value. There is a really lovely play park for the kids with plenty of rides and activities to suit all ages and abilities. There were plenty of lovely places to stop for a picnic with lots of available picnic benches including wheelchair accessible ones which was really great to see. The walk around the Lake was also really accessible for wheelchair users and pushchairs. We stopped at the cafe for ice cream and noticed some really delicious cakes for sale. Prices at the cafe weren't cheap but pretty average for these days. The only disappointing thing about the whole place was the boat hire. We would've liked to hire a pedalo but at £26 for half an hour we felt this was way too expensive. It's not as though they use any fuel and with many of the visitors coming with young families and struggling with the current cost of living crisis this could have been made more accessible to everyone if it was a bit cheaper. All in all though a thoroughly enjoyable day out and great value for money.

Beautiful lakes with lots of walkways to explore. Excellent play area for children. Only downside the cafe is under new ownership and menu is extremely limited. We checked before travelling that the cafe was open. However after arriving and paying car parking the staff refused to serve coffee at 3.50pm. This is unacceptable. The Dragonfly cafe was much better both in food served, selection of products and friendliness of staff.

Having seen several social media posts a few days ago inviting customers to try the new deli boards and delicious food me and. My husband walked with our newborn on a lovely sunny day to the cafe and the activity centre. It has been built in the last year and a gorgeous setting but lacked any decent cafe style. So this looked great! It took us an hour to walk from the local area but was the first week of warm sunny weather this year and was pleasant.
However, on arrival we friend to order the food and we’re told it wasn’t available yet and wouldn’t be for some time. I tried to order an milk/ice cream shake they had listed on the board to be told the same. Instead we had a baguette that was average at best and had dried cucumber in it.
I understand it is new management etc but just don’t advertise and invite people to try the new food if it’s not ready yet!!! Disappointing and don’t bother going yet until they are sorted. It’s average coffee and food and not what’s advertised at the minute.
Park is lovely as always.

Brilliant place to visit. The park is huge and looks very exciting for children. There are lots of different lakes and walks to do so you won’t get bored if you go often. There are always plenty of geese and swans so you can go and feed them.
There is a little cafe selling food and drink and lots of picnic benches and areas to sit and enjoy the beautiful view.
The carpark is expensive but the walk is beautiful so worth it.

One at the activity centre
One for Lavell's lake - important so disabled bird users can easily access the site
These are both off Sandford Lane
One is at Sandford Mill
One is at the bottom end of Black Swan and white swan lake
And two are at the main entrance off Davis St...
Check the closing times if you plan to be there in the evenings as these are different for different car parks.

Is there a car park and what are the charges on Sunday please?
Written October 8, 2015
There are two car parks. One on Sandford Lane at the water sports centre (with overflow on the otherwise of the road) and the main car park on Davis Street (immediately after the bridge over the A329M on the Twyford side). The main car park is by the cafe and clos to the children's play park.
