Yamnuska Wolfdog Sanctuary is dedicated to providing educational programs...

Yamnuska Wolfdog Sanctuary is dedicated to providing educational programs regarding wolves and wolfdogs in order to foster a greater understanding of the importance of preserving wild wolves in the natural environment, as well as providing rescue and safe sanctuary to wolfdogs that have been neglected, abandoned, or otherwise displaced. We provide visitors with a unique opportunity to interact with our wolfdogs and learn all about them.

Guided Tours:

A 45 minute visit to the sanctuary allows visitors to come right into the enclosures and interact with the wolfdogs. This is a great opportunity to learn the key differences between wolves and dogs, and dispel some of the many myths surrounding wolves and wolfdogs. It also gives visitors a fantastic photo opportunity to photograph the wolfdogs without obstructions. A reservation must be made as there is limited availability for this tour. Guided tours are offered at 10:30am, 12:00pm, 2:00pm and 3:30pm. Minimum age limit is 12 years old. These tours are $46 per person.

Self Guided Tours:

An interpretive walk around the sanctuary allows visitors to see our various enclosures and the wolfdogs that reside within them. It is a great opportunity to learn interesting facts about wolves and wolfdogs and explore the sanctuary at your own pace. As space is not limited, no reservation is required and drop-ins are welcome. Minimum age limit is 6 years old. These tours for a limited time are $21 per person.

We visited the wolfdog sanctuary on a recent sunny afternoon. Some of the wolfdogs were shy and regarded us from the wooded areas in their enclosures, but most were snoozing in the sun. We enjoyed seeing them and learning more about wolves and wolfdogs generally. The property is beautiful and thoughtfully laid out. The enclosures are very large with lots... More

This was a birthday gift from my son. I have always loved wolves. You can walk around the sanctuary and look at all the wolves. There is also an interactive tour where you can go into the enclosure and feed and touch the wolves. It was an amazing experience to get to do that. Well worth the stop. We loved... More

They have like 5 enclosures with different types of wolfdogs depending on the percentage of DNA wolf. Close Interactions are allowed in 2 enclosures with like 8 wolfdogs. Some are little afraid of humans some others are very friendly. You will be able to feed them and take pics.

If you love wildlife and love dogs, you must visit here. It was the highlight of our Banff trip. The guide (Scott) was excellent and we enjoyed every minute. We want to go back!

Don't get me wrong, this is a great place doing a good job. But charging $21 per person and calling it a "tour" when it is basically just an admission charge is a bit much - if it had cost half that, it would have been about right - and I would have spent more in the shop. That said,... More

This is one of a few places I will make time to go back to, the wolfdogs are amazing from 20% dog to 80% dog mixtures. Plus you can feed them as you sit, I never realized they wolfs are not like in the movies and are really afraid of humans. It was an eye opener to see a wolf... More

During a recent visit to Calgary, my mother suggested that we visit this sanctuary. I'd never heard of it before so I went there with no idea of what to expect. What I found was: a purpose built facility which had the animals' welfare at heart; deeply committed and knowledgeable staff; and an experience that puts you as close to... More
