My visit left me with a big smile on my face. To be able to compare the differences between a Spanish and a British Carthusian monastry and how each adapted to the environment they were in was fascinating. As was seeing how they developed after...More

Very nice ruins to visit with rooms set up representing original uses. Very reasonably priced. Only 3,50 Euros or 2,50 Euros for seniors or children.

The location of the whole facility by itself is breathtaking, with all the vineyards and olive-plantations around, and the limestone amphitheater of Priorat just gently curving around in the background. The site is very well maintained, and you will find detailed information along the route...More

They have recreated a monk cell. Really fascinating. Plus the monastery is really lost at the end of the valley. Worth visiting

Extensive ruins of the monastery which was the first Carthusian monastery on the Iberian peninsula. Much larger area of excavations than I thought it would be. Restorations are well done, views are spectacular. Much history here. Don't miss the Cellers de Scala Dei in Escaladei.

Hidden treasure in a beautiful scenery. You will understand it and appreciate the history of Priorat and the monastery if you take a tour of the site.
