Tanshishan Culture gained its name from Tanshishan ancient human relics which are located at Tanshi Village, Ganzhe Town, Minhou County and a key protected unit of cultural relics. It is also the best-preserved prehistoric relics of ancient human culture with the most substantive relics. With a history of 5,000+ years, Tanshishan Culture is comparable with Yangshao Culture and Hemudu Culture and has distinctive and unique features of marine civilization. A total of 8 archaeological excavations have been performed since the discovery of the Tanshishan Cultural Relics in 1954. The excavated cultural relics include a pottery lamp which is honored as the "No. 1 Lamp of China".
