After a few mixed reviews I was unsure about the museum but it turned out to be a really well presented, very comprehensive museum mainly about Tautavel man who predates Homo-erectus. You could criticise it for maybe a few too many displays of bones, tools...More

Is is where the remains of a human 45000 years old, were found. We very well received by the archeologist who runs the museum. Well worth a visit.

A lot of work has been put into this museum which is in a small French village. It's all based on the find of bones in a local cave. The find has been dated as 450,000+ years old.

Travelling with two secondary school-aged young people, the displays were tired and unengaging and the audio guide very difficult to follow (strong accent, wrongly-pitched explanations). Furthermore, there was little that was joyous or celebratory about what has been a startlingly wonderful archeological find. Some more...More
