Hrutey Island worths an hour walk when staying in Blondous. At July, which is usually the most touristic season in Iceland, we were alone on the Island. Once you cross the bridge, the walking paths are very nice, we have seen all kinds of mushrooms...More

We were staying in Blonduos for a night as we traveled the Ring Road, and we found Hrutey to be a wonderful surprise hike! It wasn't too strenuous, but it was beautiful and was still good exercise. There are several paths that you can see...More

we did this walk in the evening. Easy walk. Water-resistant shoes are recommended. The bridge was a bit frightening

Beautiful short hike, little muddy and cold at the end of march but worth it, in a walking distance of the the modern church of the town.

There was still plenty of snow on the ground but that didn’t stop me from walking around the entire island. There was some green Douglas Firs that was awesome to see.

We hiked around the whole island in about 40 min. It's very nice and we were lucky with the weather. Bring good shoes, some of the paths are slippery.

It appears that hardly anyone is aware of this feature in Blonduos. It took a leisurely hour to walk around. Access is across a skinny bridge (only 2 people at a time) just before the N1 petrol station.

We were driving from Akureyri to Reykjavik and happened to stop here to stretch our legs. This ended up being a lovely, low effort hike that parents and kids both enjoyed. It's located on Route 1 as you enter Blonduos, across from Efstrabraut. There's a...More
