    Só worthwhile
A fantastic facility to visit. So many birds. Great bird hides, including low level ones. Interesting well presented exhibit. Wasn't very busy. The staff were extremely friendly. We stayed for lunch which was really delicious. We enjoyed it all so much that we are on our way to it today to do the same again before our flight back to the UK. It was worth the 14 euro each to enter. We chose not to take a guided tour as our focus was to wander, look, wait with a camera.

Great selection of birds in an amazing environment
If you're interested in birds and birdwatching this place is fantastic. We had the electric cart guided tour and visited all the main hides around the estuary and lagoons. we saw a wide range of birds including waders, raptors and passerines. Victor the guide was very knowledgeable about the birds and the environment and spoke great English. The staff in the centre Ana and Sara were also very friendly and extremely helpful sorting the logistics of the visit - We arrived on the train so Ana organised a pick up from the station for a very reasonable fee. All the staff were passionate about the centre and the excellent job it was doing. Once again many thanks for very enjoyable afternoon - we would love to visit again sometime.

Beautiful place, birds, and very nice people
This place is amazing. You never know if you'll see all the birds you want to see, but it is a beautiful environment to walk in. You just know the birds feel at peace here. I've seen at least 10 different species, in march. In the lagunes and near the walking paths. But the best thing about this place is the people : the staff is very very helpful, at least Ana at the desk. I cannot stress enough how nice and helpful she was to me in organizing my visit. I want to thank her again. Obrigada Ana!

Excellent, informative helpful staff, superb location and worth the visit.
The staff were superb and understood what each visitor was seeking. From experienced birders to family day-outs, they were able to help. Unfortunately access to the terrace alongside the cafe / viewing point was closed at time of visit and this would have made a difference to the photos which were taken through the glass. Birding quality was quite stunning over water and also over reedbeds below terrace. Always evolving, a great visit but access through the gates from the N10 could be clearer and simpler but understand that there are 10 kms of agriculture before the EVOA.

Although it was a little cold and windy in February, it was an excellent time for bidwatching and we saw so many different species of waterbirds, passerines and birds of prey! Our guide Antonio was so nice and provided us with a lot of informatin, not only on birds but also on the agriculture and the environment. My friend who accompanied me is not a birdwatcher but she also had a great time because of the beautiful scenery there, so i would recommend it to everyone. You can explore the surrundings by foot on your own or with a guide but with the electric car you are able to see a lot more.

This amazing place was recommended by the birding lodge Quinta Barranco da Estrala or Paradise in Portugal owner Frank. I contacted them online and made a reservation for the pickup round trip from the train station of Vila Franca de Xira. It was a 45 min ride from the Santa Apolonia station. Everything went smooth. I was impressed by the staff biologist Sandra who is very dedicated to the bird/wildlife conservation, their behavior and communication.

The reserve is one of the largest wetland in Europe. There are two loop trails with several bird hides, a total of 3 miles. Sandra advised me where to see most birds depending on the tide. Indeed I saw many Flamingos, Glossy Ibis, ducks of various kinds, sandpipers, passerines in the wetland. On our way out we saw about 30 White Storks ketteling to start their migration to Africa. It is a well cared for place.

Audreia worked there since the establishment and she set everything up for me. The young women who worked in the cafeteria was very nice and provided a scope for me while I was waiting for the return trip.

It is a must stop for nature and bird lovers. It is very easy and close to Lisbon.

A great place for birdwatching. I went on a tour in the electric car with Pedro as guide. he was extremely knowledgeable and pleasant. It was really an excellent way to spend an hour and a half. I had to leave soon afterwards, although I would have liked to stay on for some unaccompanied birding

It is our fourth time and we love it. The guides are super nice and they explain everything about the best wildlife and birding sites. A lot of shelters to watch birds. Totally recommended!

I thoroughly enjoyed my first visit to EVOA. We had a guided visit, both to the exhibits and to the field. It was so absorbing we spent 4 hours instead of the planned 2:30, and time just flew.

The visit started with a movie about EVOA. I give high marks to the photography and the very clear narrative. Next, we were guided through the exhibition. Our very knowledgeable guide nicely complemented the charts, photos and text displayed! This was followed by a few "rules of the road" for the field visit and off we went.

It is quite an easy walk, as the path is totally flat. On a nice sunny day like today, wearing a hat is advisable, as are (any time) wearing good walking shoes, trousers and long sleeves. I should also have taken some water with me.

We made three stops at different lagoons and from the observation booths we were able to see and photograph a large variety of birds, some rarely seen (beginners luck?). This was in addition to many more seen during the walk. Again, our guide was invaluable, always ready with explanations and setting up the spotting scope she carried all along, helping us to easily distinguish the several species. We could also see tracks from various animals, and hear some bird calls. The richness and diversity of the fauna is amazing, and we were told it keeps changing throughout the year, so re-visiting should be nice.

EVOA is quite near Lisbon and easy to find. The path from the main road to EVOA is well marked. The price is fair, considering the amount of information, variety of birds that can be seen, the facilities, and the fact we could actually have spent the whole day, which we didn't know. It was a memorable afternoon, and I'd like to repeat it.

All coastal wetlands are important for migrating birds but Evoa is a feast of delights at the right time of the year. In November, the quantity and variety of species was wonderful and the weather perfect, by British standards (for November). Still little known, it would seem, by British birdwatchers because brochures etc are in Portuguese but beautifully illustrated. The staff could not be more helpful. (The birds could, at times, be a little more helpful, of course :o) It deserves to be world famous and one day it certainly will be.
