Such a lovely few hours spent here. We arrived at 10.45 and thought it must be closed- the site has a bit of a run down feel about it but that is part of its charm. The volunteers arrived shortly after and opened up the gates. The ride on the railway was enjoyable. What really stuck out for us was the Plixie trail ride. Our daughter is 3 and was absolutely blown away by it. If you have very young children then this is an excellent place to spend a few hours.

We spent a fantastic few hours at Teifi Valley Railway in August, and our four year old loved it all. I'd say it's ideal for younger children and toddlers. There is a little railway that wanders through a lovely valley and stops at the top for a short walk through the woods to a beautiful waterfall under a railway bridge; and a bonus ride on the Pixie Line, a tiny model train that heads up a small hill speckled with sweet little gnomes, pixies and elves, and their tree houses. While waiting for trains, there is a soft play area which our son adored, having not been in one for the duration of the pandemic. There's a cafe offering very simple food and drinks, and a small shop, and plenty to occupy us for the three or so hours we were there. The whole place is staffed by volunteers, operating on a shoestring, and they all worked very hard to give the children a lovely time. It's an absolute bargain: there are probably bigger, flashier train rides to be had in the region, but I doubt you'll find so much to do for so little. For a very small donation, the children were able to take part in a quiz and get a little goodie bag too at the end, which was brilliant and all going to a good cause, keeping the line and trains going. I'll definitely be going back there when we visit Wales again.

We called in with our 10 year old grandson. It was a nice summer’s day and, although the place looked untidy, it was fine. The staff were very pleasant and we enjoyed our short ride, with a walk at the end. Then onto the pixie railway which was lovely. If you like high tech attractions this isn’t for you, but we liked it.

On a grey day we set off to visit the railway and it didn’t disappoint. Very friendly staff and always great that our dogs can accompany us where possible. It’s important to remember that your visit contributes to the continued effort of volunteers who are passionate about keeping the line and it’s history alive. The setting is beautiful and there is food and activities to keep a young family entertained. I only wish I could win the lottery to assist this fabulous place in achieving all the work they are so keen to carry out. Yes it’s not all shiny and new but see it through a child’s eye and it’s magic. Not forgetting it is a heritage railway!
