Ao Manao is one of the tourist attractions in Mueang Prachuap Khiri Khan District Prachuap Khiri Khan Province Away from Prachuap Khiri Khan town to the south about 5 kilometers. Ao Manao has beautiful views. The general public can go and relax. and provides accommodation for tourists Ao Manao is under the supervision of the 5th Airborne Division and was once a battlefield during World War II.

I love to be there when I want to be alone, to keep myself down from the busy thing. I went Ao Manao alone last year after i got broken heart with depression.
To sit and see the wave with slight wind make me calm and relax, I'll be there again soon.

We stayed at the hotel that is inside the air force base - bizzare setup but you do not really know you are in an army base once you get there. The hotel rooms were wonderful - a view of the sea, peaceful and clean. We were there in the middle of the week and got spectacular rates.
The sea water swimming pool has faces the sea, fabulous. Also has a lifeguard which is not always the standard in Thailand.
The hotel restaurant is not always open, but there is a food center at walking distance. Note that it closes quite early, so do not expect to find dinner at 10pm.
To get to the town the front desk will get you a tuktuk or you can stop one passing on the road.
The bay itself is spectacular, a great place to relax. You can walk along the endless stretches of clean white sand, climb up the mountain and see the view, and feed the multitude of monkeys.
The downside of being at Ao Manao in the middle of the week in low season is that all activities are suspended - you cannot get a boat to the islands or rent a bicycle or anything else. We had to go to the village to rent bicycles which we got from the Pizza place on the beach (French speaking). Excellent new bikes, well maintained. Really nice people who rented us their daughter's small bike for our ten-year-old.

Ok I will be the first to admit it . I have been to beaches all over the world but have never seen such a spectacular crescent shaped beach as in Ao Manao. Places like Pattaya and Miami Beach pail in comparison . Now I will say if you like a lot of people those 2 places are great Lots of action but if you are looking for pristine beaches with no one on them then Ao Manao (Lemon Beach) then you really want to go here. Local villages scatter the country side. And you can really breath well since there is NO pollution.
And the ocean and beaches are pristine
So get out the scuba gear and bathing trunks and Go to Ao Manao and enjoy your life It truly is very romantic and secluded

You can go to this beach through the army border (no need to bring your pasport). The beach is clean but has a lot of fir needles on it. Mostly visited by Thai people (it was not busy at the time we were there.)
It's not the white sand beach and clear blue sea as you woud dream about...

We recently spent a weekend in Prachuap Khiri Khan and headed absolutely fell in love with Ao Manao Beach! It is located inside the Wing 5 Air Force Base right in Prachuap city.
The beach is huge and military personnel keep it spotless! The bay is protected by many small islands so the water is calm and safe even for small children. There is plenty of shade under the trees that line the beach for those that prefer to stay out of the sun.
There are multiple food courts right across the street from the beach serving every style of Thai food you could hope for, from Phad Thai to curries, to fried rice, and of course so much seafood! We even found a small stand with delicious fried ice cream. The highlight of my sons' day, I believe.
Wing 5 and Ao Manao are an absolute gem and we look forward to visiting again as soon as we can.
Insider tip: after hitting the beach, ask about the monkeys! Definitely worth checking them out!

The best way to get to the beach from Prachuap is via the air-base. You have to be on transport though, no walking through the gates and foreigners have to sign in. Lovely beach with some good Thai cafes. The sand is clean and the waters clear, but beware of jelly-fish. An announcement is made over the P.A. system about them, but only in Thai. I think the safest part is the south part of the bay. Well worth a visit. To visit the monkeys on the hill to the north of the bay, again you have to be on some form of transport, no walking. Nearby there is a monument and museum marking a brief battle the Thais had against the Japanese following the invasion of WW2.

Although we heard that Ao Manoa can get busy on Thai holidays, we shared the large beach with 20 other people so it felt as though we had it to ourselves. It costs 50baht per person to go to the beach from Prachuap (100 baht for the family) and takes 10 minutes max including the stop to sign in at the Air Force base (Wing 5). The umbrellas and table cost 10 baht per person and the person responsible for the area had an extensive menu and we had some great meals for about 30 - 50 baht each.

Do I have to arrange a round trip taxi to come here form Hua hin? If we are to just let the taxi go, will we get a cab when we need to head back? I don't know if there a hefty waiting charge as we need to spend a good 5 hours here. Also is there any alternate mode of transportation to come here form HH? We are a family of four if that matters. Thanks in advance

The train is a nice experience, but it drives only very few times per day.
We ended up renting a car in HH and enjoyed the flexibility.
We booked via:

Good service! They also offer drivers (we took one to Bangkok at a fair price
