We were blessed with a wonderful, knowledgeable guide who took us through the main areas and answered our questions very capably. You will get an appreciation for past generations and how they lived, worked and survived. This is considered an open air museum, so you...More

Visited the museum as part of a tour associated with a Rhine River Cruise. It was fascinating and educational to see homes (these are large structures) moved to this location. It gave us a real perspective of life in times several hundred years ago. It...More

A living history museum type of place. As an English language speaker, it is worth it to arrange for a guide to tell more details. There are some eating vendors on the premises.

Very interesting open air museum which gives an idea on how hard country life was in the past. The only complaint is that maybe it would be even better with live vintage costume extras and more animals.

Walk around the reconstructed villages of Northern, Central, Southern Black Forest and discover diverse exhibitions in each house. Feels authentic and is both entertaining and didactic.

This museum was a wonderful way to learn about the regional history of farms and farmers, dating back to the 15 or 16 hundreds. Our 4.5-year-old was fascinated to see how things worked back in the day, including how food was stored and how animals...More
