Bear Watching

Floating the river and Bear Watching with a knowledgeable guide was very relaxing. Bears were still out even though the off season had started.

We were in Bella Coola in mid-September, with a huge salmon run. Ironically, that makes it a bit tougher for bear viewing, as the bears have so many places to choose to eat. Fortunately for us, the day we went on the river with Fraser, the bears were choosing that stretch of the river. We saw an adult female right... More

Fortunate enough to get on a tour with Fraser and Jim in early September. We booked in the morning and obviously Fraser doesn't do these well as he was as grumpy as a grizzly himself! Thankfully he mellowed during the day and proved to be a perfect guide - very knowledgeable and he even cracked a couple of jokes. Best... More

We went on the tour on August 20, 2015. There were two Kynoch tour boats at the time we went. We were fortunate to see one bear. My teenage daughter happpened to be looking at the right spot and a grizzly stuck its head out and then went back in. We were able to linger around for 10 more minutes,... More

A great tour , Fraser was very passionate and informative about the bears and the environment. The disappointing part of the tour was no bears to be seen. Plenty of tracks in the sand and gravel bars, but must have been having a rest day. Would like the opportunity to take the tour again, when on our next tour

We went on the river with Fraser twice. He is a very knowledgeable guide who cares deeply about the bears and the environment. As photographers he tries to accommodate the best angle for your picture but absolutely will not put bear or client safety at risk just for a better shot. I respected him even more for taking that stand.... More

The float starts 35 minutes up the road at Belargo Bear Watching Platform (see our entry under Tweedsmuir Park). Regardless of whether you hire your own boat or not, you all travel up together. On the river you then join up with boats from Tweedsmuir Lodge. The boat / raft is stable and comfortable We heard Fraser talking a lot... More

We had a great time on our Grizzly tour - it is such a nice, quiet way to float down the river in the beautiful Bella Coola Valley. We were very lucky to see a grizzly, what an opportunity to take pictures of these amazing animals! Thanks for a great trip!

Wanted to give Frasier and his crew a big long overdue thank you for showing my 4 year old daughter her first Grizzly and Cubs. Knyoch Adventure will show you a very intimate side to the Grizzly Bear as you float down the river in one of the most beautiful surroundings. What more could ask for guides with great personalities,... More
