My wife and I are 70 years-old, in decent shape for our age, and we had a fantastic experience with our guides Sam and Tony. The Clearwater River is a genuinely exciting and awe-inspiring place to try out whitewater paddle rafting. (We have done quite a bit of kayaking but this was our first experience river rafting.) We were fully briefed on safety, paddling technique, commands for navigating. Constantly, the two guides pointed out the wonders of nature surrounding us, the lore of forests and rivers. We entered the river just below a tumultuous section of class 5 rapids and were immediately swept up in the adventure with thrilling class four and lower rapids. You quickly learn what working on a team means! Halfway, we left the river, hiked up a steep bit of slope to view the lovely Candle Falls, walked underneath, and finally jumped into the small, deep pool at the base of the falls. Awesome! Back on the river, more incredible rapids with creative names, each with its own personality. All of us jumped into the water at one point and were carried down river through the swirling currents and surprising waves, then hauled back on the raft to continue. Some of us leaped off a 9-metre rock outcrop into the one of the deepest sections of the river. The guides, Sam and Tony, were excellent - they kept us safe enough without killing the thrill - and instilled in us their deep appreciation for the majesty of this place. By the end of the 3+ hour experience we were vibrating with gratitude and accomplishment as a team. Go for it!
