A great way to see real Muskoka
What a great way to see Lake Muskoka. The front desk at Touchstone Resort recommended we gave the steamship a go and we are so glad we did. So relaxing and so great to see all of the expensive properties from the water. We learned a lot but loved the fact we could just hang out, enjoy the sun and tour the lake. it didn't feel crowded at all. The price was fine too.

Lovely way to spend an afternoon.
Lovely way to spend an afternoon. We went on the Wenonah II which is a very clean, comfortable ship. Guide on board was excellent- he had so many interesting facts to offer and has been doing this job for many many years. A lovely trip. We were 2 teens, 2adults, 2seniors and all thoroughly enjoyed it

    So relaxing
We had a great time on our little cruise. The views are wonderful. We originally booked the Segwun, as my spouse has a passion for steamers, but it got cancelled and we were switched to the Wenonah. It was equally as good. I would go again anytime. Don't miss this trip!!

Very informative tour. We took the one- hour tour on Winonah II and wished we had booked the two-hour trip! Highly recommended. Make sure to visit the Discovery Centre as well - so much to see and learn about the olden days.

A great way to learn some of the rich local history from the entertaining commentary, and to view the vibrant fall colours. All necessary covid precautions were carefully enforced with plenty of space for everyone on the very comfortable Wenonah ll. The boat crew was extremely friendly and courteous. A must for anyone coming up to this area.

The steamship itself was quite comfortable and you could sit in or out as per the weather. However , the best part was the commentary supplied by someone on the cruise. He clearly knew not only what we were passing but also a large part of the history. Made the whole trip very entertaining and enjoyable.

I tried to enjoy it, i really did. it was about one and a half hours to drive there from toronto so it is rather accessible. As soon as we got there things started to turn for the worse. parking was very limited and virtually inaccessible from all of the signs and buses parked outside. when i was there ordering tickets the employees were very unfriendly and impatient and sure took their time finding tickets. after i boarded the ship there was garbage on the floors and the ship was poorly maintained. did not have a good time seeing as the biggest con would be the unfriendly people in general that work there.

Muskoka Steamships is the operating arm of the non-profit Muskoka Steamship and Historical Society, based in Gravenhurst, Ont. They own three vessels: The steam yacht Wanda III built in 1916; the motor vessel Wenona II launched in 2003 and the flag ship steamer RMS Segwun built in 1887. RMS (Royal Mail Ship) indicates a vessel that carries Royal Mail. In this case, mail posted aboard will received a Segwun cancellation before being forwarded. We have visited central Ontario many times over the years and always manage a cruise on one of these boats. They recall a time, a century ago, when the line operated so many steamers that it is said to have been the largest fleet of inland vessels in North America. Wenona is designed to recall the so-called palace steamers from those days. Beside the rich appointments befitting such a boat, she is equipped with features not available to those early boats, such as air conditioning and an inter-deck elevator. Segwun was originally a side-wheeler but in 1925 was rebuilt as a propeller ship and steamed on until 1958. That's when circumstances--principally the age of the vessel and the public's preference for the automobile--caught up to her and she was retired, temporarily it would turn out. In the early 1980's she was reactivated after a considerable restoration and has steamed the lakes every year since. She is the oldest operating steamship in North American and one of only three that use coal for fuel. The stoker shovels coal to the furnaces when needed, a procedure that can be seen from the main deck. Segwun does a Thanksgiving cruise every year and we decided to ride it last October. The cruise departed on-time at 9.30 am and, as we enjoyed complimentary coffee and pastry, the old dowager of the lakes steamed up the length of Lake Muskoka, then up the Indian River, through the lock at Port Carling and on to a resort on Lake Joseph for Thanksgiving Dinner with all the trimmings. We enjoyed the day immensely. Both Segwun and Wenona offer special cruises to the explore the various nooks and crannies of the lakes not seen on the scheduled cruises. We rode one in 2007 and enjoyed that as well. Wanda can only accommodate 24 passengers and so it is available for charter only.

Made a reservation the day prior for my wife and I.
- I became sick and was not able to attend. The lady on the phone would not transfer me to a manager and just kept telling me they had a no refund or cancellation policy.
- I was told by the lady on the phone I should have checked the internet before booking and it wasn't her fault we didn't know about the cancellation policy

Stay clear - not friendly and once they get your money they have no interest in making you happy
