Awesome, beyond my expectations!
May 2018 • Couples
This is the first time we have attended this theater. Didn't know what to expect. We arrived at 6:15 p.m. the dinner buffet starts at 6:30. The director asked questions about the play, tables that could answer the questions would go first and so on to the buffet table, so brush up if you plan on attending. The meal was absolutely delicious. Provided by Over the Top Catering. Rolls, breads, two salads, mashed potatoes, carrots, peas, roast beef, gravy, coffee, tea and punch. The desserts are brought out during a 15 minute intermission. From the very first musical number I was awestruck. The orchestra, the singers, the costumes, the energy were over the top. To me, this was worth every cent! As good as any Broadway play. The actor who played the Hunchback was fabulous! He will go far in the acting field. The priest was also excellent. The music wonderful. This was a long play, my only complaint was the seats were extremely uncomfortable, but everything was fantastic!

Searching for a new location
Dec 2017 • Friends
We have been going to this theatre and its extension theatre in Langley for many years. Have always enjoyed the performances and the intimate nature of the the theatre. Unfortunately they have lost the use of both theatres and are currently looking for new locations. I hope they find something soon as we will really miss their shows.

Country Theatre at its best
Dec 2016 • Friends
Twice now we have attended both the dinner and the musical performance at the Theatre in the Country in Maple Ridge. Both times we were royally entertained from the start of the shows until the end. Dinner was delicious with a buffet style roast beef dinner. Vegetarian and gluten-free options were also available if you let them know when booking tickets. The intimate setting of this theatre means you almost feel like part of the action with singers, dancers and performers interacting with the audience. Overall it was a wonderful night.

Theatre in the Country
Aug 2016 • Friends
This theatre group put on plays, musicals and reviews in a tiny theatre converted from a (formerly) school gym. As long as the A/C works it is comfortable, when it didnt it was like a boiler-house. The first production I saw there was "Mary Poppins" and it was very well done with good performances from both children and adults. The second one was "Agnes of God", a difficult and series play, also very well done, by another theatre group using this theatre.

The third broke the pattern, unfortunately. It was amateur performances by a group of children and adults who had had, I believe, only six days of rehearsal (it was a 'summer camp' kind of experience) and the $15.00 admission charge was way over the top for very uneven performances. This was a show that should have been advertised 'for family and friends' of the performers, with a donation for expenses (which must have been minimal) The improv theatre skit was one of the worst I've ever seen and should only have been performed in someone's living room for a laugh!

The administration for T in the C lives a lot to be desired. My tickets, printed on the computer, stated 2 p.m. as the start, whereas others had 2.30, which is when it actually started. As there was nothing else to do there 'in the country', not even coffee and snacks, it was annoying to have come a long way and then have to wait in the heat for the performance.

Theatre in the Country makes for a wonderfully intimate theatre. It's so easy to feel a part of the scene acted out in this intimate setting!

The Music Man
Jun 2016 • Friends
The Music Man is playing here until June 18th. The show is great, singing amazing, choreography superb. Wonderful to see so many children taking more lead roles and doing a great job. And to add to the experience - you can get tickets which include dinner, done by Over the Top Catering, with roast beef done to perfection including gravy or horseradish (vegetarian - can special order when you purchase tickets on-line, mashed potatoes, peas, julienne carrots, butter & buns, and a delightful salad which includes strawberries, feta, and mixed lettuce plus a terrific vinaigrette. We took 2 friends and had a wonderful evening together enjoying, food and such fun theatre.

Cozy Intimate Dinner Theatre Will Return
Dec 2015 • Friends
Friends decided to Celebrate A Birthday and discover a New Theatre. What a wonderful surprise it was. The venue was perfect. The Production Its A Wonderful Life was Delightful. Great voices, dancing and acting. A Great way to spend an evening and not far from Maple Ridge on Lougheed Highway. Google said 16 minutes from the house, didn't seem THAT long. The Roast Beef catered meal was delicious and you could go back for seconds. Dessert served during Intermission. Sorry we had not heard of Theatre in The Country before. It has been running for 3 years. If you do not wish dinner you can just watch the play. We are looking forward to returning for their 2016 Season.

Great Dinner Theatre
Dec 2015
My husband and I were treated to an evening out with friends. The venue and what we would be doing was to be a surprise so I had no idea where we were going. I was delighted to find myself at Theatre in the Country for a performance of It's A Wonderful Life. The acting was energetic and the music was excellent. Watching this movie on TV with Jimmy Stewart and Donna Reed has always been a Christmas tradition.so this was a real treat. The Fraser Valley country meal was delicious and since it was a buffet, you could take as much or as little as you wanted. No worries about running out of food as taking seconds was encouraged. It was a really great evening out and I highly recommend you try this place out. If you love music, theatre and a great meal, this is where you'll want to visit again and again.

Great Local Dinner Theatre
Nov 2014 • Friends
This little known dinner theatre is an absolute Gem. We discovered it about three years ago and have attended most of their productions since. While the beef dinner is catered, it is more than adequate and the quality of the performances is above and beyond what I would have expected in our local. If you live live theatre then don't miss it!!!!
