Great dog friendly hike. Lots to see and lots of water for the dog to cool off in on a hot day. Easy hike. Try it, you won’t be disappointed!

Nice calm place to visit but watch out for the mosquitoes, Even in the washrooms. Not too many people on the trails. Very picturesque and enjoyable.

The park starts up in the forest above Maple Ridge and follows Kanaka Creek out to the Fraser River. It passes through some amazing canyons and waterfalls. There is a fish fence and fish hatchery and amazing learning centre as well. Great park for hiking, learning, a picnic, or a leisurely walk along the riverfront.

Its a nice walk to the river but if you are going to lock purses or whatever in the trunk ,do it before you get there and leave nothing in sight in the car. They hide in the bushes and watch,as soon as you go they are into your car

Took a walk on a series of trails going from Cliff Falls to the fish hatchery. Lots of places to park your car including the fish hatchery. The trails are well maintained and there are some uphill sections going to and from the creek but overall the trails are easy. I agree with some of the reviews Kanaka Creek is really just a local park rather than anything along with lines of places like Golden Ears or Pinecone Burke.
The highlight of the park is Cliff Falls which is more of a set of rapids rather than a waterfall. The falls were not so spectacular due to the low water levels in September. You can hike the whole trail system in less than three hours. There are washrooms at this park at the fish hatchery but the hatchery is only open on summer weekends. There are lots of trees and the canopy provides good shade against the sun but despite the shade bringing along some water is a good idea especially during the summer. There is a water fountain at Cliff Park next to the playing field so you can top off your water bottle there.
In all, this is a good place to walk your dog or for a family outing as the trails are fairly easy and the visit to the fish hatchery is a great educational opportunity too. Road access is easy and is about an hours drive from Vancouver.

A lovely flat hard packed gravel trail along the Kanaka Creek and Fraser River. You will see lots of waterfowl and if the season is right you will be able to pick lots of blackberries.

This place is a lot of fun. We did the Riverfront Trail portion of Kanaka Creek park on a hot, sunny morning. There's an outlook tower on the oxbow (at the beginning of the trail near the parking lot), which is great for observing the local bird life. The Riverfront Trail has a lot of observation points on the Frasier river that were great for viewing ... and resting (again, it was a hot, sunny day). The trail is a bit narrow in places, but never difficult. We're in our 60's and can't hike like we used to, so we appreciated the well-kept trails and the lack of major hills. Other trail users were friendly, and most of them respected the peacefulness of the surroundings (we kept crossing paths with a family with 3 toddlers on little bikes ... the kids were a bit noisy).
Be sure to stop at the Information Board in parking lot to pick up map of the park. There's LOTS to do and see. We hope to return someday and try the other hikes.

A great place to walk the dog or take your children for a nature walk. There are washrooms at the entrance and doggie bags to keep the park clean. There is even access to the beach if you go left towards the nature trail. Best at low tide so that you can walk around the point.

There is not a lot of access to the Fraser River in Maple Ridge. This is the only access with trails. The trails are rather short, but not bad for stretching your legs, getting a view of the river and perhaps walk your dog. Please pick up after your dog, that's one of my pet peeves about the trails. There are lots of better trails in Maple Ridge, especially at Golden Ears Park, or Cliff Falls Park.
