Good fun day out, really interesting, looks great. When it is busy the queues to get in the car park and up the stairs in the turrets can be frustrating but overall well worth it. This place does suffer the classic National Trust site problem that is that there are no toilets after you leave the car park which is... More

Shocked to realise it was 22 years since we were last here. Nice to be back to this fairytale castle, surrounded by its moat, especially lovely with the autumn colours. Even after all this time, we managed the spiral staircases and enjoyed the view from the top of the turrets. Good facilities at the car park if you needed them.

Interesting hour or so looking around this castle. We were lucky to get an excellent guide on the morning and the lady explained many things that would have remained an unknown. Well done to her. Great moated castle that stirs the imagination. Hard work (for us) climbing the towers (spiral staircases !) but the views were good. National Trust so... More

The castle stands on a great expanse of land. Very impressive. You can climb up into the rooms and onto the battlements if fit enough. There are guides to give you additional information. There is also an education hut showing a film about Bodium and it's history. Well worth the visit.

We went for an autumn walk there with our boys/11,9,7/. The castle is lovely and picturesque. The boys enjoyed climbing the towers and running around the castle. There is a medieval game for the kids, but this one could be more interesting and exciting /kids were a bit disappointed/. But they did some archery and they loved it They fed the... More

First time I have approached an entrance desk and been told that's £x amount including gift aid (which made the entrance fee more expensive)... I feel this is taking liberties. My partner spoke up and said we wanted standard admission on this occasion. As we were walking down the steps I heard the girl on the desk say something to... More

We are sorry you were unhappy with our gift aid on entry policy, below is an explanation of our policy and the reasoning behind it.   The National Trust is a registered charity which raises all its own funds, the ‘Gift Aid on Entry’ scheme in an important part of this and allows us to claim back the tax individuals... Amazing castle. Well kept grounds and stunning views to be had from the towers. Highly recommend the half hour guided tours, which helped to put what we were looking at into perspective. We spent a good hour and a half exploring the castle and the surrounding grounds. The coffee shop was a very welcome stop at the end of our... More

Bodiam Castle is amazing. Set in beautiful grounds with far reaching views and completely surrounded by a large moat with koi carp and ducks. The interior on the castle is a ruin with some remedial work done. This is a NT property with a great coffee shop, gift shop and loos in the carpark. Car parking fee is £3

My husband and I went to visit the castle on a week day just after the schools had gone back. The parkland to the castle was typical NT and uninspiring, but it was not that which we had come to see. When we entered the castle and walked across the bridge our hopes were high but once inside we were... More
