One of my favourite castles: the moat gives Bodiam Castle an amazing setting and you can get right up onto the battlements with wonderful views. There is plenty to explore. The car parking is £3 extra unless you are a National Trust Member.

I am a member of the national trust and found this place on my national trust app. You drive into a car park and there is a little gift shop and cafe on the entrance. (This is also where the toilets are, none up by the castle) There is a gravel track that leads up to the castle itself which... More

We,took a trip out to bodium,on my birthday. Ideal, for a gentle stroll.ideal, for budding, historian's everywhere. I would suggest a packed lunch and, check the weather forecast beforehand. We,got there by the Kent and,Sussex railway. Ideal, for all train enthusiasts.

Went to this castle for the first time. What a beautiful castle!! The grounds are also beautiful. There are staff all around and some dressed in outfits for that era. A lovely restaurant with lovely drinks and food. Also gift shop. I thought the price to visit castle was very good value and castle Booklet is £3.50 which is great... More

Loved this chance visit using our NT membership shame it was marred by unsupervised school trip who were busy lifting the flagstone slabs unchallenged by anyone!! Thoroughly loved learning the history and love story. Kept well and the moat and wide mouthed hungry HUGE carp were amazing

Be prepared to pay to park. Lovely cafe with reasonably priced food. The castle itself consists of impressive ruins and lots to see. Very interactive for younger visitors plus informative talks. Definitely worth a visit

My husband and I visited the castle as part of our summer holiday exploration and we were not disappointed. We love to visit castle grounds around the country. The entrance fee was very reasonable and the experience good. The walk up to the grounds is short and gentle. The view is fantastic, not looking up to the castle upon arrival... More

We called by on the way home and stumbled across this large moated ruined castle which was interesting to discover. The bridge to the castle across the moat was great fun, loads of ducks and enormous carp who come to the surface with their mouths wide open! The castle itself is a ruin but good to explore, great fun for... More

Plenty of things to explore and do - even for the young ones, easily whiling away a few hours. Decent tea-room for lunch.

When children draw a castle, they draw this one! It isn't a ruin, at least from the outside. The ramparts and turrets are still standing. The moat is full of water (and ducks and flipping HUGE fish!) Despite being sunny and during school holidays it wasn't mobbed, which was nice. There were extra bits to keep young and old entertained:... More
