My husband and I took a pre-arranged shuttle that picked us up at the main entrance of the Quebec train station and took us to Jacques Cartier National Park. The trip was about 45 minutes and the ride was pleasant. Once at the park we were able to purchase sandwiches and snacks at the gift shop before embarking on our journey. We did a 6+ mile hike that started near the visitor’s center, though I can’t remember the trail name. The hike was strenuous but was equal parts incline, flat and decline which made it palatable. We are not particularly athletic and were able to do the hike, including a couple of stops for water (which we brought with us) and lunch at the scenic mid-way point, with only a half hour more time of what we were informed the trail should take. I believe we were told 3.5 hours and it took us approximately 4 hours with stops. Lovely day and we lucked out with temperate conditions.

Worth the trip to see this. Nice even well kept walking paths throughout so easy to get through. It's free, but no free parking unless you go to the tourist information kiosk as you arrive in Gatineau to get a free parking pass. This pass allows you to park on side streets where there is normally a 1 hour parking limit for as like as you like. We parked on Marston St. Enjoy!

This unique living plant exhibit is a must see attraction. These displays will not be repeated and it will close in October. Some displays' plants may suffer from early frosts and not look as good as they did in summer. The displays are breathtaking and fascinating to all.. not just flower lovers. There is too much to see to explain, but it is magical. If you arrive when it opens, 10:00am, you get to see some of the gardeners doing the final touchups and watering.. in some cases using a Genie Lift! It is a free attraction. Parking at the lot is $10 per vehicle... pay at a machine in the lot and display your ticket on the car dashboard. Plan to spend at least 45 minutes viewing the displays. There are bathroom facilities and vendors selling water, snacks, coffee etc. There are many areas to sit & relax to enjoy the displays...some in shady areas. This venue is wheelchair & stroller friendly.

Please update your information. First off in the overview, this parc is not the one 20mn away from Québec City (that parc is Parc Nationale de la Jacques Cartier). It does not have any of the amenities listed. (ski hill, yurt, etc)

The Jacques Cartier Park is located in the city of Gatineau (10mn away from Ottawa, Ontario) and for now is closed off. The Mosaique left in 2018. The parc has been closed since last year.

The northern end of the park was a sawmill operation in the late 1800s and some old ruins and infrastructure can still be found for those exploring deeper. Online searches for Gilmour Steam Mill will give you more information.

Check out the exterior of the office building at the north end of the parking lot while you are here. It was originally an office building for the steam mill and has several carvings on the exterior that are thought to have been leftovers that were originally intended for Parliament Hill.

The pictures of this park look amazing but in reality, there is nothing here. There are trails to walk down but the grass is all fenced off and there is nothing to see here. It was nice to walk along the water and look across but it's not a garden or anything special so this is not really a fun activity and my kids were very disappointed to just go for a walk. I wish it was more clear that the garden is gone when searching for things to do in the area.

I agree with Lacy and some of the others who've reviewed the park recently... It's a pleasant place to stroll by the water but doesn't really have much more to offer than your hometown, municipal park.

A nice spot for grass and trails👍

Jacque Cartier Park is full of a must see display of plant and flower sculptures that represent the many facets of Canada. This is a very special display that is here for the summer of 2017.

We stayed close to the park for all of the events and really had a blast. It is on the banks of the Ottawa River and is quite nice. The Museum of Civilization is next to it and is a short walk from park. And it was a great spot to watch the fireworks.
