Big Canyon Rafting provided us with a very unique rafting trip through the upper Chilcotin River. A bus picked a whole group of us up at the Williams Lake visitor center and we headed out. They provided us with all the gear necessary to raft including wet suits and splash coats as it was a cooler day. This trip took all day and we pulled off the river around lunch time to eat the provided lunch. It was very well done. The day continued with more rapids and then we got off the water and loaded the rafts up. All in all it was a super fun day! . The 'Upper Chilcotin' raft trip is suitable for ages 10 and up and includes jaw dropping scenery. I would highly recommend.

I brought my seven y/o boy on the lower Quesnel day trip, he loved the waves (totally soaked) and swims, but got a little bored on the floats (which there is a few hours of). Lunch is on an island, great for swimming and running about, he wanted to stay there all day. He did get cold and it was a super hot day, so if you bring little people make sure to pack a dry sweater for after rapid section!!! Ten is supposed to be the minimum age for this trip, I can understand why, and do suggest a real hard think about it if you want to bring younger than that because it is case by case and depending on the current conditions. But my little guy is a super agile athletic thrill seeker and I knew he'd be fine because we do lots of crazy things together and he already wants to skydive. I say no way!!! The rafts were in great shape and safe. The guide gave us a great ride hitting every water feature that was in the river that day (Sebastian) The lunch was super yummy. Self made sandwiches, corn chips & salsa/guacamole made by Shannon. Plus a few veggies and surgery snacks for the second half of trip. Pack your own water if you're thirsty before or after lunch in a water bottle that you can clip to something, because Quesnel is very hot. You won't regret a rafting trip on the Quesnel river, lots of wildlife. On the river we saw: Eagles, Osprey and other birds, frogs, many curious deer, and a bear swam across the river in front of us.

Thanks for the very positive review, Indianghostpipe! We're so glad to hear you had an awesome day! Yes, there are a few hours of floating on that trip, which we could understand kids might find a little boring, but typically our clients are out with larger groups of friends, and that is typically when either water fights start, or people have a great time for relaxing at the end of the day. Some of those amazing wildlife opportunities such as the one you had with the bear swimming in front of you happen during the float sections as well. Most people are not so fortunate, that is great to hear! At the beginning of the day we always recommend that people wear splash tops that we provide during the day, and if they choose not to wear them at the beginning of the day, that one gets packed in the drybag for them to use later if necessary. Great recommendation that extra clothes should get packed on the trip for young folks - our guides do have a drybag that people can bring their own extra clothes along on the trip should they get cold later on. Our apologies if that was not communicated to you at the beginning of the day, it is the consistent message that we aim to give all our clients. Glad to hear everyone enjoyed our fresh, handmade salsa and hummous, and all the other extras that we offer including artisan bread, and fresh farmers market veggies when they are available. Thanks for the recommendation about guests bringing a water bottle that can clip onto something in the boat, we will pass that information on as well to our booking staff. We set the minimum age at 10 years old for during the early season when the water is alot higher (we operate June to mid-September), and there is a significant drop in water levels between those times. By mid-August, we can comfortably take kids as young as intrepid 7-9 year olds who are comfortable in water, such as your son, during the lower season water levels, if they are accompanied with their parents. As this trip is mainly floating (as you identified), with a short whitewater section, the vast majority of the trip is very low-key with a short burst of fun whitewater. This is the information you would receive during a discussion with our office staff at the time of booking if you book over the phone, and if anyone is seeking a variance from our minimum age levels of age 10, we absolutely encourage them to have the conversation with us on a case by case basis. We thank you once again for your great review!

Big Canyon Rafting provided us with an exhilarating day. A school bus picked us up at our accommodation at 10 a.m. We returned back at 6 p.m. Our guide was David and he was very knowledgeable and had total command of our raft. A picnic lunch was made for us by the guides on site. I would recommend this company for a wonderful rafting experience on the Upper Chilcotin River.

We went on an amazing rafting trip on the upper Chilcotin River, starting at Hanceville to Farwell Canyon, with lunch included! The scenery was absolutely gorgeous. Rafting down the Chilcotin you get to go through beautiful canyons and see Pinnacles, old cabins, and ranches all from the river. You go through many rapids and also some parts to float where you can swim in the river. We got to see a bat cave, many birds (such as eagles and cranes), and even Big Horn Sheep. The guides were awesome, it was an amazing experience. I would recommend it to anyone who wants to have a really good time!
