This maritime heritage site has something for everyone: the story of the sinking of the Empress of Ireland was a tragedy of the highest order but swept away by events later in 1914. The exhibition begins with an excellent film show complete with special events!...More

We visited the submarine and Empress of Ireland museum but not the lighthouse. We were fortunate that it was not busy so we had the submarine to ourselves for over an hour. We quite enjoyed the commentary on the hand held audio guides, but the...More

This is a place where you feel like you are not in a city, but in a forgotten, story-like corner of the world. It was raining and maybe this gave us the best taste of this beautiful "pointe"

We loved this combined museum site of four different histories at one location! In the tiny community near Rimouski in Quebec, Canada. There we saw the Onondaga submarine and had a fabulous self guided tour with bilingual hand-held audio tour guide. It was very informative...More

We visited the Empress of Ireland exhibit which has artifacts from the wreck and film which was informative. What a tragedy that is almost forgotten. The lighthouse is 128 stairs and not an easy climb but beautiful views. It was an overcast day when we...More

This museum and lighthouse and submarine are really interesting. We did not go into the submarine but the museum is great. I did not know about the Empress of Ireland and the great tragedy that befell that ship. A fantastic exhibit with a movie and...More

Being a World War II buff, I was excited to experience this amazing opportunity. But the moment I stepped inside, seeing the tiny hatches we would have to crawl through to progress, I panicked, turned around and fairly ran across the boardwalk back to the...More

We visited the submarine and we walked up the lighthouse. The submarine visit was very insightful, although the narrator sometimes drags on. We just skipped ahead and it wasn't a bother. It is rather expensive, but it was a nice experience nonetheless. We walked up...More

Really interesting way to visit this site, we loved it. It was worth the stop in Rimouski, from the submarine, the empress to the phare visit, we were surprise to hear our history, very touching, and it happen all right here in our Canada.

OK, this is a bit out of the way for a lot of people travelling down east, but, if you have a day that you can add to your holiday, we think this site is worth it. There are three attractions that are all very...More

Hello, Carol D : I would like to drive upriver in July of this year and stop at Rimouski's Pointe-au-Pere attraction. Do you know if a person can camp overnight at the Pointe-au-Pere parc near the lighthouse? Merci de votre aide. Diane Starke de Florida
