This was our third annual trip up as a family to this awesome resort. Along with another family we rented a condo right on the T-bar side of the hill that was big enough to accommodate 4 adults and 4 kids. As usual the resort didn't disappoint. Everyone I found is exceptionally friendly. My 3 year old daughter tried skiing for the first time this year and absolutely loved it. What really helped was how friendly the attendants working the magic carpet run were to her. As soon as she would get on she had her hand out waiting for her "high five"! So thank you Kimberley Alpine Resort for making what was to be a good holiday into a great one especially for my daughter! We hope to come back in the summer if possible but will be for sure returning next winter for another ski vacation.

Visited Kimberley when they had not had much snow for a while. I was still able to find decent snow. The hill has a nice pitch overall and I'm sure it's incredible after a good dump. It was family day weekend and the lift lines weren't that bad.We stayed at Trickle Creek Lodge and had a great time overall. We plan to go back next year.

I lived in Colorado for a number of years and got to ski great resorts. Winter Park was my favorite because of the incredible mogul runs at Mary Jane.In fact it is the best resort of the planet for bump skiing. When I moved to Cranbrook , i was very impressed with Kimberley Alpine especially The Black forest area . They have long mogulled runs which can challenge the very best bump skiers.I never quite understood why RCR never promoted the hill as a mecca for bump skiing. It should be named Mary Jane of the North.

Thanks for your review Mike! The Black Forest has it all - long steep fall line cruisers, moguls, tree skiing, and a plethora of playful terrain.

Kimberley is a great family resort with varied.terrain.
The problem is RCR treat the resort like the poor relation.
When the lift burnt down RCR got huge support from the community and how does it repay that by failing to invest.
Many of the black runs can’t be skied because it looks like nobody bothered to brush cut.
Flapper, magma , comet are in an awful state.
In addition it looks like they haven’t got the grooming equipment to groom any black runs like Tamarack, Notre Dame , Flapper.
As a result the joy of Kimberley for experienced skiers isn’t there.
Come on RCR invest in this resort and give something back to the community of Kimberley whose local hill it is.

Kimberley is, in my opinion, the best ski hill in Canada. It has 78 runs, great lesson programs, friendly locals, and consistent dry powder. I've skiied at every hill in western Canada, and a couple hills in the east, and I have to say that Kimberley is ALWAYS powder, never crowded, and never too cold or too warm. I've been 6 times this year so far, and it snows almost every day. At other hills I've experienced more powder, (Whistler, Fernie, Kicking Horse), but I've also experienced disappointing days of rain-induced ice (at the same resorts), and this has never happened to me in Kimberley. Consistent snow quality and consistency is what it's all about - when I go for a ski vacation, I want to ski EVERY day. Plus, nice dry powder is much easier for any beginners you may happen to bring along. No sense scaring a beginner with a day of ice!
Plus, let's not forget that Kimberley is only a 3.5 hour drive from Calgary (driving the South way on Hwy 3 ensures better road quality). Driving that extra hour past Fernie is DEFINITELY worth it! The Cranbrook airport (about 15 minutes out of Kimberley) is a great way to fast-track your ski weekend, with a short (and cheap!), and it has daily flights to Calgary and Vancouver.
Kimberley is also a great year-round destination, with world-class golfing (I believe there are at least 6 courses within 10 minutes), mountain biking (you can ride the quad chair to the top!), hiking, the list goes on and on!
We always stay at the Rocky Mountain Condo Hotel, which is nice because you can get a full kitchen, dining, living room, etc. It's also right beside the quad chair. There are lots of great accomodations right on the hill, and in the winter there is a free shuttle bus from the hotel into downtown ("The Platzyl") with great shopping, dining, etc.
Oh, and while you're there, don't foret to have dinner in an igloo, take a dogsled tour, and cross-country ski to a five-star dinner at the golf course!

My wife and I used a ski tour operation to get a wonderful 7 day package to this wonderful get away..... Most people choose to go to the larger resorts in Colorado or Whistler. We flew into Cranbrook Airport. Which is one of the smallest airports I have ever been too.. We drove our rental car to kimberley which is about 30 minutes away. This little town has a lot of character, with a Bavarian feel too it.... The ski resort (area) was once owned by the town, now let me tell you, it was a nice town owned resort... It is now owned by a ski operator which owns several others resorts. They recently installed a quad chair running the complete 2800 + vertical to the peak. most of the other lifts are much older, however they do plan on explanding the resort with newer lifts on the back side. The terrain is mostly fall line runs, with no open bowls, but when I say I was the only person on the whole backside of the mountain, well I was..... There was never a lift line and the residence inn at the base was a wonderful way to relax after a hard day skiing. An finally if you want to get a wonderful homemade meal, find the barn haus on the way down the mountain into town....It is worth the wait for your food to be made.....We will for sure be back to visit Kimberly again....Oh, this is a wonderful family resort to get your kids into skiing.....

If you ski Kimberley Ski Resort, be prepared to defend yourself to supposed public service representatives who are more than ready to accuse you of fraud. We purchased a half day ticket, for which the wicket worker mistakenly gave us a youth pass instead of an adult pass. Admittedly, the mistake was noticed by myself only shortly before a liftee had noticed the youth designation on the pass. At which time, they indicated that the situation needed to be resolved. At that time, we thought that they would ask us to pay the difference for their error, a perfectly reasonable proposition. It wasn't until we were in the front office being harassed about how we must've knowingly committed fraud, that we realized they were wanting us to pay for their mistake and then some. Certainly we were more than willing to pay the difference, but we weren't about to pay for a whole day ON TOP of the half day youth pass for which we had already paid. Be forewarned that if you don't look at your pass carefully before skiing, you may end up being harassed into paying for their mistake. We've held season passes at this hill for 25 years, and were appalled to be accused of doing this purposely. In fact, we were threatened with criminal charges.

Lots of different runs were so much fun! I did not love that they closed down the ski hill to people who decided against the Covid vaccination as that was extremely discriminatory, but the mountain itself is great!

This was not my first time skiing Kimberley, and it won't be the last. There is a wide range of runs, from beginner, intermediate and quite a few expert runs. We usually have no problems finding powder here. Lots of variable terrain and glade skiing. There is a lot of mountain here. Line-ups are quite short.

skiing for three days is perfect. Lots of terrain to cover and all the black runs I was on had moguls of good size but not the giant ones you see in a lot of resorts. After three days thou may want to go to neighbouring hills for more variety thou. Very family oriented. Not much for amenities on the hill, but kimberly is only a short drive away. The ski to the door condo's are terrific. The room we were in is very comfortable and staff very helpful
