Showing the ravages of time but so well built that with a little modern assistance (safety) it is open to the pubic to view through the summer months. The setting makes up for what the castle lacks. Very good, ideal for summer visit whe you...More

First off, yes, the castle is only open from June - September, so plan accordingly. We were lucky we went in June as this turned out to be one of our favorite ruins. Getting to the castle is a breeze. There's a dedicated car park,...More

We explored this castle shortly after we took the free guided tour of the Listowel Castle, and I recommend that others do the same if time permits. We learned quite a bit on our guided tour in Listowel. The Carrigafoyle Castle is something that one...More

A wonderful castle to tour. Be sure to get out of the car and walk to the top. Wonderful views. The castle was built by extremely skillful masons. Fascinating to see the stone work. A must see.

While this site is accessible, unless you climb the narrow stairwell as I did ,to the top lookout ,its just impressive ruins. The road in is fine ,plenty of parking as no buses go there. The story is interesting ,but not much to see

This is one of the best kept secrets in the area. Gorgeous views and a fantastic historical site with all the touristy traffic.

We were out of season for the castle to be open by the OPW which is May-September, BUT still worth a stop by. Very well signed off R551 and the tide was out when we arrived. Would have been really cool to see the inside,...More

It might not look much from the outside but upon entering the castle it was huge. The circular staircase was the widest I've seen and were complete intact right the way to the top. Views were amazing and well worth the climb. It looks as...More

This is a must see ruin whilst in Kerry, it’s so refreshing not having to pay for entry fee and having the freedom to explore. You can climb to the top but I will warn you if you’re scared of heights it’s not for you,...More
