In the heart of Alpilles, the monumental “Carrières de Lumières” host extraordinary multimedia shows which are unique in the world. Spectators are totally immersed in the images projected onto all the surfaces of the rock. The ground is completely covered, too, and becomes a vast carpet of images. The site has reopened its doors with the show “Gauguin - Van Gogh, painters of colour”, created by Gianfranco Iannuzzi with Renato Gatto and Massimiliano Siccardi.

This place is fantastic. When we went there, the Chagal exibition was in shown. Seing Chagal's art used this way, accompanied by fantastic music, in such spectacular surroundings, was breath-taking. We loved it. Moreover, let your self be overwhelmed by the sight it self, and imagine the hard work, that build such unique surroundings.

Picture half a football field and about 2-3 stories high rock quarry with 3-4 huge 20x20 pillars in the middle. Then illuminate the entire wall and floor and put it to music. I've never seen anything quite like it before. We sat down and watched the two shows they have as it was easier and the floor is projected on... More

This was one of the most fabulous things I have witnessed in Europe. Someone had the idea to show a beautiful subterranean cave and had the wherewithall to project the most fabulous art on the wall topped off with beautiful music. This is a fantastic exhibit for young and old (including children) and there are no stairs to go down... More

All the other rave reviewers are right - this is a simply wonderful place. It is an awe inspiring location, a brilliantly creative idea and a fantastic way to introduce anyone, especially young children, to some of the world's most famous artists. OK, you don't actually get to see any original works and there seems to be only one artist... More

Always a pleasure to see these creations, ...and I don't even like Chagal! A must see! I've seen almost every exhibition since 1988. The music accompanied by the dramatic visuals is moving whatever the subject!

We thought this was a tourist trap and had no intention of doing this, but had some extra time, so went anyway. Absolutely mesmerinzing and one of the neatest art installations I've ever seen. Our 8 year old son did not want to leave!

Before you experience this awesome 45 minute exhibition which features Chagall's life and works, you should go to the top floor of the Musee Yves Brayer where you will see Chagall prints and painting. Many of these same works are projected onto the walls, ceiling and floor during the Carrieres de Lumieres. There are seats throughout the space, and although... More

This is our second time in Les Baux de Provence. The first time we passed through , we didn't realise what the quarry was and we didn't go in because there was an admission charge. Boy did we missed out! This time our hotel told us there was a exposition of Chagall paintings the quarry, so we decided to go... More

All I can say is GO to this. I have never experienced anything like it. The limestone serves as a canvas for a beautiful art show with music. It goes on forever. What a wonderful tribute to great artists.
