In the heart of Alpilles, the monumental “Carrières de Lumières” host extraordinary multimedia shows which are unique in the world. Spectators are totally immersed in the images projected onto all the surfaces of the rock. The ground is completely covered, too, and becomes a vast carpet of images. The site has reopened its doors with the show “Gauguin - Van Gogh, painters of colour”, created by Gianfranco Iannuzzi with Renato Gatto and Massimiliano Siccardi.

My husband and I saw the Chagall show and the Alice in Wonderland short in June 2016. It was nothing short of incredible. My husband is not usually very into art but was truly moved by the experience. We walked hand in hand throughout the space just getting totally swept up in the projections and the music, it was a... We visited the last week of November 2016 and got to enjoy the Marc Chagall projections as well as a short Alice in Wonderland show. The location alone is magnificent just to walk around but once the show begins, it is unbelievably cool. You can either sit and enjoy from one of many angles or you can walk around to... More

This is definitely not your ordinary movie in a movie theatre - the art by Chagall is shown on the walls in a huge limestone quarry that is amazing to see and hear. It is an artistic creation of film and music in a unique space that is absolutely and without question the most beautiful show I have ever seen.... More

Saw Chagall sound and light show in the most amazing limestone caves with 20, 30 and 40 foot high ceilings and double and triple-movie-theatre sized walls. The entire space came alive with a visual and audio experience that would make the Super Bowel Half-time look like middle-school amateur hour. In the middle of the second show ... the volume goes... Very difficult to explain this concept in words. It is a feast for the eyes & ears. You are observing work or art projected on stone walls by laser light with amazing music to enhance the experience. It is definitely a must to see once or twice in your lifetime.

Going in to see the Chagall version of Carrieres de Lumieres we had a pretty good idea of what to expect. We were wrong, it was far better. This presentation was amazingly stunning. As others have said, this was in an underground quarry where bauxite was mined. The ceilings are about 50' high and had large square pillars throughout which... More

The carrieres de lumieres in les baux de provence present these exhibitions with a different artist each year and we have never been disappointed. From your first steps inside you are enthralled, it is a delightful visit, definitely unmissable. Watching these famous paintings magnified, multiplied and often moving on all the surfaces of this impressive place is such a pleasure.

The town of Les Baux is much like other Provencal hilltowns, with the exception that this town has Carrieres de Lumieres. This multi-media art show projects stunning videos on the walls and floors of an old underground stone quarry. It is wonderfully captivating. And not just for adults; We saw kids just starring at it in awe. The walls of... More

We visited this old limestone quarry in the Provence region of France. The quarry was around 2 acres inside and about 3 stories high. I videoed the experience but pulled a more professional quality video off YouTube. Pictures were also projected onto the floor...very cool!
