In the heart of Alpilles, the monumental “Carrières de Lumières” host extraordinary multimedia shows which are unique in the world. Spectators are totally immersed in the images projected onto all the surfaces of the rock. The ground is completely covered, too, and becomes a vast carpet of images. The site has reopened its doors with the show “Gauguin - Van Gogh, painters of colour”, created by Gianfranco Iannuzzi with Renato Gatto and Massimiliano Siccardi.

I had read stellar reviews on Carriers de Lumineres and made the effort to go. We had a long drive and it was somewhat difficult to find as we don't speak the language and our cars updated Nav system couldn't find the address that is listed on the website. What should have taken two hours, took three and a half.... More

It was very hot outside so this was a welcome visit. Incredible inside. The visual and music for Chagall and for Alice in Wonderland was an sensorial experience. Would return to see future shows.

Les Carrieres de Lumieres is the art of Chagall projected onto walls set to classical music and lasted 30/45 minutes. 13 euros per adult. There is plenty of room inside but take something to cover arms as I got quite cold after a while as it is underground in caves! Parking was not easy - it's just luck if you... More

Words cannot explain the beauty of this attraction. Masterpieces of the best artists are displayed on the walls of the limestone chambers of a cave. They are brilliant and are constantly moving and changing. Even the floor of the cache seems to move with rings and stripes in constant motion. A must see while in Provence.

This is a sound and light experince like no other. Each year the organisers select an artist, or a small group of artists, and digitse their work. It is then displayed in a dazzling show of images projected on floor, ceiling and walls of a cavernous abandoned quarry to the accompaniment of related music. Viewers are free to move around... What a nice place. I have gone twice already and each time a different artist is shown. It is a great place to be calm and quiet and just enjoy art and relax. Only downside is trying to find parking in the area which was full to the brim each time. Still recommend it fully. Worth the time to find... More

Breathtaking! A real gem of a find! Entertaining for all in our small party. The children were captivated. Not to be missed!

Les carrieres de Lumieres is a moving light show of the works of Chagall projected on to the walls of a series of rooms in an underground cave system. An old underground mine, I think. The ever changing light show is accompanied by an eclectic array of musical selections that complement the artwork. It was beautiful really beyond description. Highly... More

Had heard about the Chagal exhibition & tought the paintings would just be projected on a large scale on the walls. This exhibition took my breath away, as the walls, ceilings & floors are covered with the art & comes to life, with music. The visitor becomes a part of the painting. I've been to many exhibitions & never saw... More

Always a highlight but we saw the three previous exhibitions in a combined special viewing. Hope they do it again next year.
