We saw 8 bears and the day was fantastic but it's not for everyone! It's an all day excursion from Painter's Lodge or Campbell River: 2-2.5 hour boat trip each way around the back of Quadra Island to Bute Inlet. We saw sea lions, birds, seals, dolphin, and orca on the boat trip and stunning scenery of course. It's tricky... More

Brought my wife up to Orford Valley for our honeymoon and were absolutely wowed by the magnificent beauty of Bute Inlet and the Orford Valley. We were greeted by the First Nations guides in their traditional language and given a piece of cedar to protect us during our visit to their sacred lands. My wife was blown away by how... More

The Homalco First-Nation's traditional territory is mainly north and north-east of Campbell River. The tour had us traveling by boat from Campbell River to a reserve and former settlement at the mouth of the Orford River, about one-half way up forty-six mile long Bute Inlet. The scenery along the way and at the river mouth was very spectacular - ocean,... More

This tour was truly a highlight of the summer. The location is absolutely breathtaking and the guides were incredibly welcoming and informative. We started our tour with a ride in a traditional canoe to see the territory and cultural features, then went on a bear tour, and next were treated to a freshly-caught seafood feast which was absolutely delicious. Finally,... More

The trip was wonderful and the tour guides were informative and friendly. It was a very beautiful spot with spectacular views, best tasting seafood and demonstrations of local Coast Salish customs was really great. We will be going again in the fall to see the Bears of Bute! I highly recommend this tour!
