We were at the BC winter games and went to the visitor center to ask questions about other things we could do during our 4 day stay. We were wondering about any information about northern lights or local things to do other than the games. Although the young woman was lovely she wasn’t able to offer much in terms of advice. She was not aware of any information about the northern lights even although the city emphasizes this on their website. The advice was “I think there is an app my friend uses” and to look up at the sky and if you see a bit of colour drive out of town to see it better. The only other recommendation was to go see a local project where they are building a dam. This was a great opportunity for Fort Saint John to put themselves on the map as they had a captive audience at the BC games. I think they forgot to amp up the tourism part of the event.

The staff in here were extremely helpful with information, in addition to offering free wi-fi and coffee. They were happy to have a chat about possibilities and gave us information about what was on around town that we might enjoy. They also operate as front desk for the Pommeroy Centre local sports facility so have good information on what’s going on in town. We dropped in twice and the staff were great both times.

The staff is always very helpful, they offer good advice and recommendations on hikes, where to eat, activities on what's happening and much more. They have plenty of free pamphlets, maps, and brochures available to help you along your journey. Looking for a FSJ souvenir, they sell t-shirts, sweaters, jackets, water bottles, postcards, kids stuff gadgets, etc. They also have additional maps available for purchase such as the BRMB Backroad Mapbooks for Northern BC and a few others maps. Located inside the Pomeroy Sport Centre.
