Beautiful Golf Course - RV park good for a couple of nights
Sep 2020 • Couples
My husband and I really enjoyed this place. I would have to say the staff at the counter of the Pro Shop (husband and wife team) really made our stay. Welcoming and friendly from beginning to end. Lovely people. We aren’t the best golfers by far, but we had a great time. Challenging course but manageable. Stunning views. We parked our RV in back which was good for 2 nights and so easy for 2 days of golfing. Unfortunately the wifi is pretty well nonexistent from the RV area but good on the deck. There is a discount for stay and play. Good sandwiches and excellent muffins too! Loved it!

At First Blush

My first time playing the course and only the back nine was open. For me, a high handicapper, the course was a fair blend of challenging and manageable. Doesn't play long but has lots of doglegs. Beautiful views of the mountains and water. Lots of elevation changes. Would recommend a power cart unless you’re 17 years old.
I enjoyed it. Would return to beat up the front nine!

Amazing views on great holes in the middle of the Kootenays!
Oct 2018 • Family
I used to come to Granite Pointe all the time as a kid, driving the golf cart around for my dad / older siblings and acting as a junior caddy of sorts.

Recently went back to the place after about 10-15 years to play through the full 18 holes and had an amazing experience. Nostalgia aside, the location is amazing and the views you get of Nelson and the surrounding area is breath-taking.

More importantly, the holes are great. They offer a neat mix of longer and shorter distances / higher and lower Pars, with varying topographies and shapes as well. I played for a good 2-3 hours with another person and couldn't have had more fun. They also have a good driving range and putting practice area to get loosened up before hitting the courses.

The staff there is extremely polite and helpful, they basically do everything except physically seat you into your golf cart.

If you're anywhere near Nelson in beautiful BC, definitely drive by for a visit.

Interesting Layout...Not a Must Play...
Aug 2018 • Friends
I heard lots about this course over the years and finally had a chance to play it. First couple of holes wake you up in a hurry and interesting layout after that. Fairways were in rough shape in places but greens were immaculate. Staff were friendly and very helpful. For some reason the course just didn't have that WOW factor for me. Nothing bad just not feeling it with this course...

Better than expected
Aug 2017
I've played golf in the Kootenays for a number of years and was always told to avoid Granite Pointe because it had a bunch of stupid holes and was never in great shape.
Played it recently because I didn't feel like making the drive to Castlegar, it was cheap and I wanted something new.
It surprised me. Yes, there are a couple goofy holes where you do need your mountain climbing gear (not that bad really), but it was fun, scoreable and dangerous, all the same. At just 6,209 from the black tees it is short but it makes you play precisely and know your yardages. I had three penalty strokes essentially from hitting the wrong club through fairways or over greens. Birdies are definitely out there but if you stray, you are severely penalized.
I liked it because I used pretty much every club in my bag, made some birdies, played quickly and only paid $46. The greens were excellent and while the dry conditions added the challenge of playing your approaches off wildly kicking mounds, I liked the fact they didn't over water the course and make it sloppy and mushy to play off of, just to try and keep it green.
Don't try and overpower the course, play smart clubs and you'll enjoy the experience.
I walked it because I enjoy walking and while the first three holes are a challenge, the rest is a very nice walk, so you can opt for that option.

Golf with a view

Granite Pointe is a well kept hilly golf course. The greens were true and fast. Undulations galore.
I played after a heavy rain but the course drained well and I had no issues. There is some minor construction on the 11th hole, a little confusing but manageable.
The view from the top is well worth the round. Take a camera.
Decent pro-shop also

Nothing beats playing a quick 9 after work with friends at Granite Point Golf Course.
Looking for spectacular views of Kootenay Lake and the Kokanee Glacier Mtn range... Grab a cart and play the classic back nine.

This is the best gold course I have ever played, including Cape Breton Highlands and Glen Abbey. The views are spectacular, the conditions are terrific, and it is palyable for all levels of golfers.

Picturesque and challenging golf.

A great golf course with tremendous views and challenging holes. Some people walk but we wouldn't recommend it unless you want to get a good workout in addition to the golf. We got to the golf course about an hour before our 9:45 tee time so we could have breakfast--No luck. Only person in kitchen said no breakfast service before 10:00 am so we went golfing without breakfast. After golf we had a lunch that was pretty standard fare. Another couple informed us that they also had arrived early for breakfast and were equally disappointed. The golf course restaurant should either start earlier or advertise that breakfast is not available.
