Great Main Street

We loved wandering Baker Street, looking at the architecture and checking out the myriad of stores. Nelson has done a great job in preserving this heritage street.

I love visiting Nelson and in particular Baker Street. It's compact, quirky, friendly and organic. And by organic, I mean the food, although you won't have any trouble finding organic sheets, towels, clothing, etc. You can easily spend 1/2 day browsing all the locally owned shops and take in all the wonderful little cafes and coffee shops. We hadn't been... More

Going from Vancouver to Calgary, friends recommended us to pass by Nelson. Very nice village and commercial street.

We have been to Nelson before - and enjoyed our visits. There are lots of smaller businesses here, offering different items than some of the big box stores. There were many people, however, hanging around the streets - gave it a different feeling than in the past. Our visit this time was not as satisfying as in the past.

This is the place for shopping and eating. There is a market on Wednesdays. Be sure to try Cantina El Centro for delicious, authentic Mexican food! There are lots of different restaurants with several ethnic choices available. The shops are nice and the heritage buildings are lovely. This is the heart of Nelson.

So many cool spots to stop and browse. Restaurants are plentiful as well as different local shops that you don't see everywhere. Cool hippie town!

We arrived in Nelson a day after ending of the Shambalaya festival and were initially disappointed with the unkempt appearance . There were also a lot of post festival people ,the sort of whom we had never encountered before but they were pleasant enough. But a few days later ,it was a partial transformation as post festival environment and people... More

Finding our way down to Baker Street - yeah, yeah... We had a great time in Nelson. Caught the tail end of the Farmers Market which is compact enough to hit the spot without being overwhelming. Loved it all!

So many unique shops, independent restaurants and cafes; stroll along the side streets and you find such neat character homes; most cafes have patios which are perfect for people watching
