I just did the Kayak-Skills-and-Backcountry-Adventure 5 day trip in the Broken Group Islands, BC, with Adventuress and Wild Women Expeditions. Jan was a fantastic guide, and the food was amazing - how she pulled gourmet meals out of a kayak hatch every day was magic. But then again, the whole trip was magical! I am a relatively experienced kayaker but... More

Although I have always wanted to try kayaking, it is only now at a mature age I actually did it. It was fantastic. Thanks to a skilled guide and instructor, Eric, who managed a group of first timers with a 70 year age range, we were able to paddle around the bay, see diving eagles, incredible mountain ranges and beaches.... We booked a two hour tour and everything was done just as the web site said. We took the kayaks to the beach, received instruction, and began the journey. Eric was clear, calm, and helpful and everyone was made to feel welcome. It was an excellent introduction to the art of kayaking. Eric kept close watch on each of us... More

I made it just in time to catch the last few of the California sea lions before they headed south. The tour guides were very thorough with our safety and kayak instruction and had lots of information about the wildlife and surrounding area. I messed up the day of my tour and Jan graciously accommodated me by allowing me to... More

We went out on Mon May 30th for a two hour paddle in a small group. Our guide, Eric, was lovely, very calm and unhurried. He gave a good safety briefing, showed us some paddle strokes and helped us get onto the water. The scenery is magnificent and the wildlife did not disappoint us: a bald eagle came down and... More

My husband and I took the Paddle Canada Certified Sea Kayaking Course for Beginners through Adventuress Sea Kayaking in Parksville, BC. Thanks to Jan Kretz and her colleague, Elizabeth, we had an amazing day - fantastic course, fantastic instructors!! Both women are such skilled and knowledgeable paddlers who provided good critical feedback balanced with positive encouragement. I have some fear... More

We were so happy wih our tour. They accommodated our last minute request. While she was teaching us the basics one of the other guests was getting nervous and Jan was excellent with her and made her feel safe and I could tell in the end she was happy she decided to do this tour. We were never very far... More

Had no real experience kayaking, in particular ocean kayaking. Emailed with the owner, Jan Kretz, who signed us up for a relatively simple excursion to look at sea lions. Very professional, good equipment, simple but thorough orientation, and very friendly and personable. Felt safe and comfortable the entire time. Guide shared lots of local knowledge on the landscape, flora and... More

We went for the 2 hour sea lion tour. Everything from the booking and payment to the actual adventure was top notch. The guides (and Jan) were wonderful and very knowledgeable. We went as a group of 6 (with teenagers) and a great time was had by all. Not only did we get a chance to see the Sea Lions... More

Jan has experience to back her wealth of knowledge regarding kayaking and tripping. She shares it all in a professional and interesting presentation. You will plan a three day trip as part of the course. This practical work is the best way to practice applying the information from the course and it is accomplished in a supportive and fun atmosphere... More
